Sorry if this is in the wrong place but yeah can't decide if this belongs in motherboards or cooling or neither :D

I recently put a small system together from really cheap parts on the MM.

Parts are

Some gigabyte LGA 775 motherboard
Kingston HyperX Ram + SSD
500W EVGA 80+ ( it does not specify what certification of 80+ it is so i am imagining to be something below bronze??? )
QX9650 Extreme edition cpu
GTX 660TI

I had a case for it all and thought i had the mounting hardware for my Noctua NH-D14 though i was wrong.

I planned to order some more mounting hardware but decided i would be more "creative"(stupid) instead. I had a spare H110i to use and despite corsair for some reason labeling LGA775 on the backplate the h110i unit can not be mounted out of the box. I think this may just be a re used back plate from a older corsair cooler that did fit a LGA 775 hence why it's still printed on there? maybe someone can tell me.

I wanted to use some cable ties to get it firmly locked down but i can't find any sadly :( So i went looking and found a stock intel cooler for what i think was a 1366 socket motherboard after making sure it would not fit on the 775 board i proceed to cut the cables from the fan i would use these as tie downs for the cooler.

Full size pictures are here Front & Back

Mods, If Pictures are to big please let me know and i shall remove and re size. Thanks!

Would you guys suggest me mounting this any other way :D? It's been stable like this for a week or so now but im sure there is something better >.<?

If the tabs with the holes in them line up, you could possibly re drill some holes and use washers on the back and some long screws with nuts on the end?

I had a q9550 and a P5Q Delux mobo with a h100. Didn't fit the mobo at all as there was a gap between the CPU and the h100. Capacitors stopped a connection so I had to just leave the h100 until I got a new mobo/cpu combo a year later. Those q9*** chips are real work horses.

Yeah was close to caps on this that's why it's at a slight angle! the QX9650 has been a pleasure to work with so far!

EDIT : Come to think of it though, i could have also done this all be it a more tricky way but it would have been possible to do it entirely without the mounting ring just the pump that barley overlaps the cpu socket.

This is a nice idea, will check if it would line up tomorrow though im not sure if i have a drill stable enough for the task. Would have to find a way to insulate though maybe electrical tape or rubber/plastic washers?

yeah plastic washers would work, stable? That's not needed. Just point and pull.. What's the worst that'll happen? ;)

So, i took this off to re mount it with good ole cable ties! To discover that the north bridge heat sync has actually melted a part of the tube!!!!

tube is well away from the heat sync now and is not leaking so thats good atleast!

you can see some of the colour on the tube changing i think!

LoL that's quite incredible.

I never have the nerve to try anything "Unsupported" I'm a wuss and also all my "Spares" end up been given to other people so there is no way I could risk them in this way for "None techy" people.

Good to see someone trying and winning thou!
