Nvidia plans to lock Game Ready drivers behind GeForce Experience registration

90% use GFE apparently, so 10% who don't want it will have to manually download the newest drivers when they are out. If there is a backlash, I am sure they will re-evaluate.

As for the "This is another attempt at locking down the PC from Nvidia" that just makes no sense.

No it makes perfect sense..
Nvidia want full control over everything you do. There business practice is aimed at locking everything to them only.

How they handle things for me is completely wrong "My own Personal view" Like I have said before its the only reason i'll never buy from Nvidia. I just don't agree with how they handle things.

Nvidia remind me of Apple of the Phone world, and AMD remind me of the Android.. I bet you can tell what I roll with ;) :)

I don't want bloatware like GFE on my PCs and I am sure a lot of other NVidia users will feel the same.

It is things like this that will cost NVidia big when the node shrink comes and AMD are back on an even playing field.

The decision flat out sucks even though i only update my drivers quarterly with my format this still does get to me inside. Gefarce Experience is turd and unwanted on my system considering DSR and HBAO+ is all they have on AMD at the minute they need to be careful.

At 4K there is nothing between a Fury or Ti, VSR doesnt count/not needed at 4K so slim lead to be suddenly pulling moves like this Nvidia. Go on AMD fix VSR and the 90 limit to FTRC and watch as me and others migrate over. My gut feeling does tell me this decision will be reversed soon. Oh and i would not be using Android as a example either. This is the same Android that everyone magically stops writing apps for once a new version arrives on my phone?

Apple, Nvidia, Android all suck monkeys and are underhand tricksters.

Also how would someone go about rolling back to an older driver if shock horror there was a problem with the latest drivers.

I never understand why someone would lock themselves into a particular brand of GPU because of the way the competition "handle things". I buy what is best for my needs and the politics is something I don't give a hoot about.

Not fussed about the email part, google inbox does a stella job of sorting any spam.

Also wont mind if I can just install the driver and disable/quit GFE.

Doesn't Raptr also make you login? Though you dont HAVE to use it.

I've got GFE installed as I use it for in home streaming, but I can't see how nvidia really think this is a good move. Places like Guru3d will just re-host them anyway.

I don't have a problem with giving nvidia my email address as I did that ages ago anyway, I get about 2-3 emails a year from them, and actually the content is usually pretty interesting. I haven't had a sudden influx of PC related other emails either so I can't see that they've sold it on to anyone.

personally i don't see it as a problem, I use GFE and signing into it wouldn't bother me if people are worried about spam email from Nvidia just send it to your junk folder, or just ignore the emails or just give them an email you don't use often that you don't really need to check

Only because it is installed by default unless you customise the installation, every time you install.

I don't mind registering to get game ready drivers but I do mind having to install useless (to me) bloatware.

I've got raptr installed and you can make an account if you want but for driver updates and PlaysTV capture and most others features you don't need to. I never use it for driver downloads anyway. With the Nvidia GFE requirement it will be a pain for most people. I would hate to have to make an account just for drivers.

This antic by Nvidia is purely marketing tactics. They will be sending the users the latest offers, etc and try and get people to upgrade without looking at alternatives.

I'm not sure what I'm missing here but I don't get why people are raging over this :S

1: If you rely on Windows Update for new drivers, nothing is really going to change.
2: If you rely on GFE for new drivers, nothing is really going to change.
3: If you prefer to manually update you drivers via the website you won't be able to get the latest hotfixes, but you can instead just open GFE, update the drivers, then close GFE

Anyone complaining about this is simply complaining for the sake of complaining, the is no negative here, the only people even being affected already have a better option anyway by just setting GFE to not start with Windows and running it on demand to check for and install updates. The only valid complaint I can see is not wanting GFE taking up precious megabytes of HDD space lol.

I really don't care TBH

I use GFE for shadow play and it works great for me.

I won't be jumping ship at anytime soon, if at all.

However I do think think people should have a choice of what gets installed and how it is packaged.
