I am unsure weather the seal the drive or not, I do intend on washing my car on it, but I've been told not to unless its sealed or wait 6 months?!?

Secondly, no new hard-core was laid before the sand, the guys dragged up my old drive with a mini digger, smoothed out and lumps and bumps with the digger, wackered it a couple of times, then sanded it. I told them about my concerns and they re-assured me that my base was solid, I've also ask a few people and it seems pretty normal? Ive watched the cctv which shows from start to finish tbh looks like theres tons of hardcore already there, maybe I'm just paranoid

You want to get it sealed if you are going to wash the car on it - otherwise black muck like brake dust will stain the block and the sand. Sealing will help cut weeds growing in the sand for a while too.

In your shoes, I'd do the mucky part of the washing on the road and then move to the drive for the rest.

Shouldn't there be some sort of drain where the block paving meets the wall?

I have no idea, there wasn't one there before, none of my neighbours with block have one, and I had 6-7 people quote me, no-one mentioned drainage

Looks great, I really need to get mine sorted. What sort of price was it for the driveway?

Anyone ever attempted to DIY a block drive?

I paid £3500 for the drive and 3 fence posts putting... we had a agreed on 4 posts, so I was annoyed to come home to 3.... lesson learned, always get written quotes.
Also got some **** and bull story that he quoted wrong and should have been £4100:confused:

all the quotes for drive ranged from £3000 (gypsies) to £5000, average price been about £3800-4000

I was expecting to hear you had done it yourself after reading that you were showing off.
My concern would be that there doesn't seem to be any haunching of the perimeter blocks.
I diyed mine.

Hi there are pin curbs in, there hidden away under the blocks from top to bottom, the edge blocks are cemented on top

Not sure what you mean by that, I can see path edgings in the photo where its sanded. They seem to be just at the top though and not on the slope ?

I would definitely get it sealed, will stop stains, weeds and ants etc.
Will also stabilise the jointing sand and stop it washing out, which it would be more prone to do with your slope.

just checked back on the cctv, they take the edging strips out completely - fill the gap with sand and lay the block on top.. I'm guessing this isn't the cleverest thing to do
