Car tax error or robbery?

so finally sorted a car out a ford focus taxed it online for 12 months (the dealer did it for me ) on the 15th of october, but when i check online it runs out on the 1st of october 2016 , so the goverment is charging me for 12 months but rarther slyly is giving me 11.5 months tax :mad: was this gedions idea ??? i do recall somthing about drivers been chared twice in the news a while back ?? the old tax system was in place when i last had a car

You also lose out if you sell your car before the tax runs out, as the amount you're refunded is rounded down to the nearest month.

However, at least you now get something back when you sell the car, there is one less thing to look at when buying /selling a car (in terms of how much is left), and there are no more tax discs :)
 
With the digital system for this now, there really is no need other than government money-grabbing that they have to issue for whole months.

Why can't we have an exact expiry date?

aye it's blatant theft if they can do it with mot's they could do the same with car tax no exscuse.

It's been like that since the first time I bought car tax in 1997 at least....
