I ordered the iPhone version from the rainforest last night for £156(they still have it for that price. Well it's the black version, the others are still over £200), should I cancel or keep the order?

I went through the should I, shouldn't I with the original momentums and never bought them, saw the 2.0 yesterday afternoon for that price and was tempted but held off for several hours but ordered in the end.

if you are looking for a portable can then yeah they are good if not a bit overpriced but you will struggle to find a better portable can.

if for home use send them back.

ideally it's best to do a spec me thread before buying headphones ;)

They're meant as portable, I missed out on the x2s for £135 direct from Philips 4/5months back for home use(mainly gaming). Similar thing happened with the x1s a couple years back from the rainforest. Currently cheapest x2 I can see is £195 from the coolshop tho no idea how reliable they are.

I like mine tbh (v1.0) probably wouldn't buy them to use as a main set of headphones but I like the sound (they get a fair bit of desktop use) and great for portable use.

They are difficult to recommend. While I love a warm, intimate sound; it doesn't really work in fully sealed headphones so they come across as a bit muddy. That said I think that's a decent price if they are purely on the go portables where you wouldn't worry too much about sound quality.

Make sure you aren't making the mistake I did - the 4 pole more aesthetically pleasing lead doesn't work well with a lot of sockets and results in a close and muddy sound - on the 3 pole lead they are a lot clearer if you are a plugging them into a device that has that problem with them.

It was more to do with the treble being rolled off and the mid bass being warm tilted. Closed headphones can be a bit tricky to get right. I'd be curious how thy would sound with angled drivers and bigger cups.

Think the mid bass articulation is sacrificed a bit due to the gimmicky psychoacoustics they are using to make them "sound" like "big speaker bass". Its is a great effect rinsing tunes like fire nation (two steps from hell), the mass (ERA), etc. but gets a bit old for general listening.

Especially as I pair them up with the AD8066 to get the best bass out of them which is already a bit "veiled" before the rolled off treble of the headphones.

They do a good job of containing the sound but pretty average for isolating you from the environment - I'm not the fussiest though in that regard (aslong as they contain the sound ok) so probably not the best judge of how well they work on the tube.

I've gone and cancelled the order, I'm no longer a teenager or a twenty something and too young for a midlife crisis(only 32) :p

Will stick with the shure se210 or 420 for portable, need to find a good headphone for gaming on the PC.
