Cat owners

When you see it :D

The one that didn't was caught in a reclining chair in the front room (he climbed inside the chair and my mother who was using the chair went to get up and we heard a high pitched yelp) and then died a few days later.

We have a reclining couch and our fear of hurting the cats means we're very wary if we know they've gotten behind us. Thankfully they don't go under the couch any more so it's not really something to worry about. Very sad what happened to your cat :(

Needless to say this all would not be cheap but it's all covered, the bill currently is well beyond the £1k mark & I can see it multiplying a couple of times or more.

It's getting expensive, with things like the CT scan at £1500 we have been warned that the bill is likely to be well over £7k.

Make sure you get insured!

Can anyone suggest a cat tracker device? Would like to see where she goes on her lengthy wanders.

We have the Loc8tor tags on our cat's collars but they are radio based and not GPS which means they can only pick up your cat if it's within range and when it does it acts like a metal detector giving a more intense beep on the handheld as you get nearer to them (you end up playing hotter or colder trying to find your cat LOL).

Whilst far from perfect, the tags are far more practical than GPS trackers which are huge and weighty normally.

Pawtrack seem to be the most advanced company in terms of cat tracking but you're looking at a bill of £75 up front and £6 a month for every collar you need...

A similar sounding company called 'pawtrax' also are soon releasing their new "micro" GPS collar but you have to arrange a SIM card and data plan yourself...

Had a scare last night.

Zazz was playing with my foot as she does and then i noticed her eyes.

One Pupil was a large as a saucer (as they do go when shes playing) but what was odd was her right eye... The Pupil was a tiny as a pin head!

Cue the wife google fooing and seeing the words "EMERGENCY" so we rushed her to the out of hours vets.
they ran some tests, and by the time we were their she started to meow a bit more than normal and kept closing her eye.

Thankfully the vet said (after looking in her eye with some cool tools) that its eye trauma, and the Tiny Pupil symptom was just the eyes way of protecting itself from what ever was hurting it.
he was happy to find that it wasnt what he thought it was (brain damage or something).

Gave her an Injection of antibiotics, and a pain killer.
Then gave us some thick liquid eye drops that need to be applied twice a day.

Her eye this morning looks sore, but its open fully and the pupil is much the same as the other.

Total cost £85 for Visit and Medication. And now a happyish kitten. :)

It is a horrible thing to happen. I would hope that the designers of recliners would put more thought into this.

The situation reminds me about a feature on the old series Landrovers.

The Engine fan cowling was fitted with a mesh cage.

According to legend, this was a modification made as a result of complaints by Farmers that the unguarded cowling made a perfect Cat hammock right next to the warm engine!

Looks like an injection site - vaccination or so?

He's gorgeous! :)

I was just asking due to how his paw looks on the 4th picture. Thought it may have been tendon damage. Our one cat came home with his leg sliced open and had to have reconstructive surgery on his muscles and tendons and his paw now makes an odd shape when in certain positions (like in that photo).

Might just be how he's standing - looks normal in the other pics, and if you look at the one where he's drinking from the tap his left paw looks the same.

Hopefully the OP will be along soon to clarify :)

Cannula site from neutering! He's fine, seems to be in perfect health.

A fine looking beast. Here's to many years of enjoyment. It is quite amazing how attached one gets with ones pets.

I couldn't agree more - I got one to keep the missus happy. Now I find myself checking the IP cam every hour when I'm out to make sure he's alright, and will spend most of my waking home hours with him next to me.

Hmm woken up 3 nights in a row by banging, And last night the most god awful screeching of birds at 2am. ** No disguised swearing ** CATS killing the birds and going through the bins!! Why on earth do people have these horrible creatures as pets? They murder something like a billion birds yet go home for a tray of whiskers?

Why am i not within my rights to shoot the little gits? They walk right along our wall which is 12ft high as a springboard to nesting birds. Poor birds... :(

put some citrus around the place and get over it. Cats are not nearly as pesky as many wild animals / ill trained dogs

Kidding yourself cats are the only animal i know in the UK that will kill the wildlife for fun and not as a source of food. These are not feral cats they have owners who feed them. Yet they still go out at night on the prowl to urinate and kill.

Charming creatures, The owners surely have some legal responsiblity?

I think naturally they would eat them, but because they taste it and think cat food is better they then dont bother :D. Also, if cats have a vitamin b12 diet then they don't hunt. Vitamin b12 is becoming more common in their food.

Apart from digging flowerbeds a tiny amount and clawing a fencepost possibly i dont see what damage they do

So, the little buggar started so well with the litter tray, and now he feels the need to pee and poo right on the carpet. 2 weeks of perfect usage, now the last few days it's been on the carpet. We've added a 2nd little tray to where he's had his deliberate accidents, but still has gone on the carpet right next to the tray a couple of times.

What to do, other than ask him to move out?

(Carpet cleaner has been ordered...)
