The EU Migrant Crisis

My wife informs me a company she has intimate knowledge of is taking large orders from our government spending, of course, our, the taxpayer's money, to send thousands of blankets to Calais, to keep the migrants we have paid to fence out, warm.

Glad to see my tax money going on saving lives.

How long before the media has a photo of some dead kid, dragged by its parents greed, from a hot, safe, but economically disadvantaged country, across Europe in winter, lying frozen stiff, and is bleating they will all freeze to death soon, and we must capitulate and let them in?

Even hot countries can get cold in winter. Aleppo, Syria's largest city, is colder in winter than London is.

As far as I understand it, a successful application of asylum gives a limited leave to remain in the country for 5 years, whereupon the case is reviewed and they can either be sent back or then given an indefinite leave to remain - effectively becoming a citizen.

Which is why we need control of our borders within the next few years.

All this referendum talk. At this rate it might not be needed. A collapse of the EU under these extreme circumstances is not out of the question.

i think you'll find theres a lot more immigrants currently stuck in the eastern European countries than Calais.

Most don't even get as far as Eastern Europe. Despite what many people here post, the vast majority of migrants, whether economic or refugee, only get as far as a neighbouring country. It takes a great deal of (local) money to get to Calais, so the people there are nearly all well-educated middle classes, because the poor couldn't get enough money together to make the trip.

Germany already taken over 100,000 this year? and theres hundreds of thousands more spread about the road to Germany.

winter is going to be a serious problem.

There are several million who made it to Lebanon and Turkey though compared to 100s of thousands who made it into Europe proper, no idea on what the demographic looks like though.

Mayor Candidate for German city of Cologne has been stabbed in the neck & critically wounded, by a German Steffen F because of her support for German refugee policy.
