Anyone ever used teeth whitening kits?

I recently quit smoking and my teeth are not as pretty as they should be. Has anyone ever tried these teeth whitening kits?

Obviously I'm dubious of buying things online but potentially saving a few hundred over getting a dentist to do it is rather tempting.

Any reccomendations?

Sister works at a dentist, and they sell whitening kits.
They do work, after about two weeks or so of use. Only trouble is, if you have sensitive teeth, it can cause very sharp pain. I know 5 people who have tried, and all stopped due to pain.

Hmm well that's one way to increase my pain threshold then :D.

My dentist wants £400 for whitening whereas there seem to be kits on Amazon for ~£30 so it's quite a saving. Whilst I could do it I'm sure I can find better things to spend the money on.

Don't suppose you know what whitening kits they sell?

Edit: Ergh I failed searching :(. Feel free to close mods :).

Groupon did an offer for a set of shields and a few tubes of bleach stuff. Was only 40 odd quid. I just buy the bleach off amazon now.

There's deffo good grades of bleach. Brother is a dentist and I wore the stuff for 2 hours an evening for two weeks. Looked great afterwards!

Also, that is the stuff the 5 people I know were using. All their teeth were whiter. Just hurts after a while apparently.

It's the shields that are expensive though.

The one I've been looking at is £25 and they send you a kit to make a mould to send off for creation. Not expensive by any means (doesn't mean they're great though).

Hmm just noticed the kit is peroxide free as well .

What's the point of whitening? Just brush your teeth twice daily and you'll be fine. Personally think that people with overly white teeth look stupid.
