1994 BMW E34 540I/6

Update
(13/12/14)

Returned to Amber

Factory AMP :)

On a positive note we covered 40 miles with no bangs or whistles,
BK35093 has had a wheel change she is driving better, Slight drone from the back. Could be something to do with the exhaust, BK35093 really did need a Suspension overhaul as they were past their best and the rear felt heavy.

Glad you think the rust isn't as bad as I've interpreted the photo's, lovely things the e34 (my old man had two 530's, a 6 & V8 for about seven years)

I'll follow this with interest. :)

Well here's one of my neighbours E34 M5 collection:

When we purchased BK35093 she was described as rust free, but working thought she ended up needing much work :) Cant knock a good e34 :)

Had some heavy rain that evening on returning home I noticed the window screen was scratched where the wiper blades run, on delivery of the car I noticed the blades looked next to new, turns out the blades are crap. ending in a half circle mark on the window screen

Wouldn't have be so bad but the window screen was the best part on the car.. MASSIVE DOWNER :(

More checking.. More findings..

The follwing day we set about removing the interior to see the amount of rot in the drivers floor and then try and find a decent welding company.

the black interior from the silver car with be fitted into this once all the welding has been done.

On a better note the rust around the petrol cap didn't go into a hole.

We next removed the interior to check on the extend of the rust that was highlighted in previous updates.

These were our findings.

We could not check the passanger side as we was limited on time.. we did not investigate into the drivers side double skin area as this car is used daily.. But will show full area prier to welding same goes for passanger side long with anything else that might come up.

We had started cleaning the floor area on the Tea Bag Lady ready for the welding, and to see the state of play, I didn't want to mess with the floor rust until near the date of TBL's welding work commencing.

We started on the passenger side, knowing this side looked better... I started cleaning the interior floor area/inner sill with one of our drill stones. The result ...The floor crumbled into a small hole running along the floor seam :???: knowing this area is double skinned. I hoped the main passenger floor would be fine ... But hey ho
