Hey chaps,

Wondering if you could suggest a 32" screen to suit my uses?

1) casual/occasional-freelance digital art; good colour gamut and accuracy needed.

2) non-fps games; Cities Skylines, XCOM, Minecraft, Kerbal Space Program, etc.

3) 1440p or 1600p; prefer to avoid ultrawide/curved or needing a new GPU.

4) Absolutely no glossy/glassy screens - if they even exist in desktop territory.

Basically looking for a good all rounder that doesn't sacrifice too much of one aspect for another. Feels like an IPS/AMVA panel would suit me well, but not sure which one to go for. Considering the BL3200PT. Any success/satisfaction stories? :)

Coming from a 1200p 24" Dell.

Thanks!

Bought one a couple of weeks ago and it's been excellent so far. Needs some minor calibration out of the box but the colours (black!) and contrast are great. Very sturdily built, you can feel it's a quality piece of kit as soon as you take it out of the box. Flicker-free, useful remote, great stand, no IPS glow etc.

It's just as the reviews say, it's a very good all-rounder. Its biggest advantage is probably the fact that it offers the same pixel density as a 1080p 24" monitor but on a much bigger screen, so it's still really sharp and games/movies look brilliant on it. It might not have the fastest screen out there but I didn't notice anything in gaming. There was no noticeable ghosting or smearing. Seeing as you don't play competitive FPS games, you should be more than happy. I play Dirt Rally, GTAV and MGSV on it no problem.

Some people complained about vertical lines visible on the screen when viewing a grey backround (something inherent to VA panels), so that's something to look for. Also, there was a flickering issue of sorts that happened in certain conditions but I think it should be sorted now. Mine doesn't have this issue.

Bought the BL3200PT a couple of months ago I very rarely if ever game. It's used for work and photoshop. Can't fault the thing. Fantastic screen. Would have liked it to be 4k but that would have probably ment a gpu upgrade to boot.

Took me months to finally order the thing, don't know why I waited so long :p

I have the Samsung S32D850D sometimes referred to as S32D850T. Uses the same panel as the Benq. It's been a great monitor and a big upgrade from my previous 1920x1200 27" Dell Ultrasharp. Link

Thanks guys, that's reassuring to hear. I hadn't spotted the flicker free backlight, but I'm glad to see it. Think I'll get an order in for the BenQ today :)

I did look at the Samsung as well, but tbh some of the OCUK reviews put me off it a little. It might just have been a bad batch at the start of the year, but I've had a run of hardware returns of late and I'm in ultra cautious mode xD Also, £50 change is a fair few pints of beer :)

I think you'll be happy with the BenQ. Its build quailty is deemed better than the Samsung and it has true flicker-free backlight (the Samsung doesn't, it only works in specific brightness ranges). You also get a couple of gimmicks like an SD card reader etc.:p And that badass stand is a solid piece of aluminium:D

There's also the Acer B326HUL but I think the BL3200PT is a safer bet.

Well the BenQ is now on it's way to me, so fingers crossed :)

I was actually surprised by how cheap such a big screen is... last time I bought one, it was a 24" that cost £450 (and has lasted 7 years without a single dead pixel). Tempted to save up for two more and screw them all to my wall :D

I'm in the same boat... hovering over that buy button but i play BF4 and other FPS games, can some one tell me how they play on the BenQ before i buy thanks.

If you are mega serious about latency and response then its probably not the monitor for you. I play Borderlands a lot and its on par with other monitors ive used that have rated response faster than the Benq. Just accept its not a ROG Swift and you'll be grand :)
