Quite a few Israelis getting murdered in the last weeks in attacks by palestinians with hamas praising them but funny how zoomee never seems to post about them..

This thread is about Palestine. A subject close to my heart and one worth highlighting to my fellow Brits. We're so quick to go invading countries and starting wars claiming to be doing it for the better good - but the main conflict going on in the middle-east we refuse to be involved in - especially when it was OUR mess to start with.

We bang on about our involvement in the middle east of being one for the 'greater good' - Why then have do we side with Israel - A clearly oppressing force with one of the last remaining Concentration Camps on earth (aka Gaza).

I think the sympathy dwindled once Hamas were voted in. That was a huge mistake and possibly history defining.

Do I think Israel has a right to exist? Yes, very much so.

Is it wrong that there are currently a huge sect of people living under a military blockade? ..absolutely.

Why it's such a mess. The only way this is ever resolved is to have one bigger unified country, but that won't happen while the two leadership regimes carry on as they are.

The cycle starts again, Israel will now do as expected and retaliate harshly and everyone will start moaning about evil Israel again despite the fact they are simply retaliating (all be it excessively)

I think Egypt and Jordan should hold either side of Palestine and have them a special self determined part of those respective countries.
The problem is they dont want to compromise, for the sake of the people it would be best to be under a sovereign nation which respect their rights not as now effectively in a ghetto

The UN could operate a DMZ for Jerusalem and then either population of people could carry on. But they wont do this, they want to fight over history and if people die and live their lives suffering they'll opt for that, stubborn

Have to admit that with Islamic State and the actions of Iran/Hezbollah tearing up Syria, and now this third intifada, I'm losing a lot of sympathy I had for the Palestinians. They don't help themselves do they? Each time they do an intifada they just lose more. How can they think that stabbing old ladies on buses will help them?

I have not read through the pages but am giving my thoughts to the title.
I was raised C of E but I have no religious bone in my body.
To me religion mean only for one thing "WAR'S".
When I was a lot younger than I am now, I went out with an Israeli girl (Absolute stunner), he parents brought her and her sister here because of the PLO, but she could not what to return to Israel to join the Army to kill Palestinians (her reason), when she was old enough. Why would a 16 years old say that?
Its all "TIT FOR TAT". Palestinians kill a couple of Israeli's - Israel bombs a village, killing considerably more. Then the cycle starts again, then after a while Israel chucks on the BIG BOOTS and send in the TROOPS killing again considerably more, also destroying homes. All the while the locals are supposed to sit back and just let it happen, I don't think so. And they shouldn't.

Isn't the issue a land grab rather than religion ?

I think religion gets banded around to stifle any hope of getting a resolution to the ever encroaching boarders.

Like WW1, WW2, The Korean War, The Suez Conflict, Vietnam, Russian invasion of Afghanistan, The Falklands War, The Bay of Pigs, Iraq War, Russian Revolution...

Politics/Capitalism/Communism/Fascism/Imperialism/National Borders/The Human Condition etc. means only one thing to me "WAR'S"
