My wife has a c1960s Zenith manual watch which hasn't been serviced for many years. It was her grand mothers, and apart from the fact it's 18ct gold and was bought from a shop in Rome, I know nothing about it.

I'm looking to get it valued for insurance purposes (don't think it's worth a lot but you never know) and also a full service.

The problem is, I don't want to take it to The Watch Lab or Timpsons as they probably don't have a clue what they are doing!

Can anyone recommend somewhere (or someone) in the Cambridgeshire or London area who would be able to service and value it?

I'm sure somewhere in Hatton Garden would be able to do what you're looking for.

but be prepared to bend over and lube up,

may I suggest Stephen Burrage of Ryte Time, well rated by private watch collectors over at TZ-UK and is one of the men of choice on servicing any watch, send him an email and tell him one of the TZ crowd recommended him.

and location is irrelevant here, just send it to him RMSD.

you wont be disappointed in price or quality of service.

Rotty (on this forum) recommended WatchDoctors (google them) to me years ago, i have used them a few times since on my watches as has my brother.

They offer an insured post back service, so it really doesnt matter where you live. I have used both the postal service and visited them in person in the past (he lives up north afaik, i guess he posts to them).

Good pricing and highly recommended :)

This isn't at all useful to the op but...how does one get in to watch repair? Having seen some amazing mechanisms I actually quite like the thought of working on them!
