Talk Talk Fibre Large...good to go?

Hi All,

Finally from today our exchange has been upgraded due to High Demand and now Fibre up to 76mb is available to my home.

After checking Sky, EE, Plusnet & Talk Talk, TT have come out the cheapest per month and lowest one off fee of only the router P&P.

I am currently with Sky with the normal Broadband, who can only offer the 36mb for similar cost and a £30 one off fee.

Is anyone else on Talk Talk? I guess service will be the same throughout the above it will be more down to the customer service? Not sure the last time I called up Sky apart from trying to get my monthly costs down.

Current use of BB is Catchup TV on our Smart TV, Internet Browsing, Torrents, Online Gaming.

Will Talk Talk be suitable for my needs?

Talk Talk don't have the best rep for customer service..

I think they care more about numbers than they do quality of service.

Sky do the faster speed but you just have to sign up for the fibre first then you can ring up and get their Fibre Pro package.. they just don't advertise it for some reason.
 
Not bothered about the CS if the service works.

Talk Talk offer same speed as the Fibre Pro of Sky (76mb), however costs around £20 per month more reading between the lines.

Is there any cool off period with Talk Talk? For example if the service is crap can I cancel within 14 days?

been with talk talk myself for a few years now, so far not a single complaint i originally went for the 76mb package because when i had Virgin media i would get throttled / not be able to view youtube properly due to their terrible cache server at peak, however i have since 'downgraded' to 36mb package and im more than happy and i regularly see peaks of 5mb's when downloading via steam.

only had to phone up once to change the phone line package, which was a lot of hassle! but for the money im saving i would say more than worth it.
 
After they confirmed no throttling I have given them a go. After speaking to a couple of friends briefly they said similar to above...no problem with the service but CS is terrible.

Lets hope no issues so I don't have to use the CS and speeds estimated between 60 - 76mb down and 10 - 20 up will give a nice increase from 20/1.
 
Try speaking to Sky before moving - they should discount the pro fibre to £20 a month and wave the activation fee to try and match TT
 
Called Sky up and couldn't (or wouldn't) match what Talk Talk were offering:

£27.70 per month for the 76mb packaging

Sky could only match with their 40mb package.

Which it wont and you'll be left on hold for an hour only to be disconnected. Then if you do get through to an Indian person called Mike you wont understand her and she wont understand you. You'll then give up and wish you'd never gone for the cheapest option.

Thats why i stick with Zen
 
I've not had a problem with their service, but I was on bog standard ADSL.

TT have tho put their prices up twice in the last year. For a basic bb package the price has more than doubled. Their contracts are some of the longest, being 18 months.

They also will not give existing customers anywhere near the same kind of deals as new customers, so you need to be prepared to switch after your contract ends.

I'm not too worried about the data breach. It's happened twice already and my account hasn't been emptied yet :p
