So the snake finally admits he made a 'mistake'. Costing thousands and thousands of lives and an unstable region which is affecting the rest of the world directly.

Guess the leaked Colin Powell memos have made him grow a conscious? Does he think he'll now be off the hook as a result?

Personally I think an 'apology' is not enough - he should be held to account for his decision's bearing in mind he'd been planning the iraq war along with bush for about a year BEFORE we had any information on anything!

There was a leaked document posted that detailed an agreement between him and bush a year or so before the invasion to go into Iraq. Was on reddit the other day.

I'm surprised this **** has been dragged into a court to really uncover what happened since no "weapons of mass destruction" were ever found... not even a trace.

Iraq..the left's cause celebre for self loathing and justifying their hatred of their own country.

Shut up about it already...these idiots in the middle East were slaughtering themselves for hundreds of years before we turned up.

Jail time will not be enough as prison for fat cats and corrupt politicians is like a holiday home. I hope he dies a slow and painful death from a disease that is sufficient punishment for him.

What a pity he couldn't be incarcerated (along with his pall Alastair Campbell) at Guantanamo Bay with all the amenities it has to offer: Water-boarding, sleep deprivation, stress positions, repetitive diet etc

Who knows he might like quite nice in an orange jump suit.

this, really

it wasn't all that stable under Saddam anyway - despite some people bizarrely thinking it is a good thing to have these places controlled by a harsh dictator who can keep everyone in line... that scenario is inherently unstable as we've seen in the arab spring

it is quite likely we'd have another Syria type scenario over there at the moment even if Saddam hadn't been deposed

OP is more fixated on this because he shares a religion with people in that region so is naturally prone to get butt hurt if anyone not sharing that religion intervienes

Don't care, nothing will happen, there's nothing a court can do, theres nothing a report can do. It's just throwing money away.
If you want to do something change the laws, so future MPs can be prosecuted.

There is a petition going on e petitions that people should sign calling for him to be arrested and charged.

He is like 99% of lawyers a slimy cretin of an excuse for a human being. We will see just how powerful his friends are now and he will be completely untouchable. I hope each and every family who have been affected (forces families) take out a private case against him or a public prosecution.

I remember watching the Levinson Inquiry (???) where a man stormed and started shouting accusations against him, namely that JP Morgan have since him leaving office being paying him £5m a year. He replied after the guy was hauled off saying he had never met anyone from JP Morgan... A quick google proves you a liar again Anthony.

Alaister Campbell should be there with him as well. Another malodorous excuse who is still pulling in six figure salaries. He even lied to Chilcott and the lie was admitted on an episode of QT he said why they went to war... Totally different to what he said in front of Chilcott. Almost the entire Govt needs to be held for corruption including the MPs who were spies for the US.

Nothing will happen he is untouchable

Arrested for what, charged with what evidence. Utterly pointless petition. And a massive lack of understanding about the legal system.

He's not untouchable, if someone really felt that he was a purely despicable man, they'd have the conviction to sacrifice themselves to alleviate the world of this evil.

It would appear however that no one cares, expecting the 'system' from which the demon spawned to ostrcise him is laughable.

/some light humour in word use

Why are people saying this is Tony Blair finally apologizing for the Iraq war? It's not even close. His words are "I apologise for the fact that the intelligence we received was wrong".

How is that an apology for anything? It's another lie, or at the least him just trying to exonerate himself.

A real apology would be something along the lines of... I wholeheartedly regret supporting the US in the invasion of Iraq and the civilian and British soldiers lives that were lost in the aftermath. It's the greatest regret of my life.

And even then it would still be insulting given the recent leaks showing he planned to go to war years before he told the British public

And we were slaughtering them for 100s of years before Tony Blair came along... where there is repression and religious differences you will always eventually have conflict (and then throw some natural resources into the mix).

He calls it "a mistake". No, a mistake is where you do something you didn't intend. When you lie to parliament in order to get them to vote for a war and to try and make an act of war legal under International Law with false evidence, that's deliberate.

He should be in prison for war crimes and he has innumerable deaths on his hands.

Exactly - he's basically like a schoolboy whose just apologised for being caught.
