Hi guys i had to upgrade to win 10 but i really need the 64bit version so i gain access to the greater memory limit, i thought during the upgrade it would have asked which version to install but it did not. I have looked around and cant find a way from windows update to upgrade to 64bit. Can anyone help with this. Thanks george.

You can't do a simple upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit, it requires a complete new install. Do the upgrade first, and right click the start button and select System. If it says Windows is activated at the bottom, then you're fine to do a clean install.

You can grab the 64-bit ISO from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

You can either burn the ISO to a disk or use the tool to create a bootable USB.

I understand i have to do the clean install when i download the creation tool do i download the 32 or 64 bit version. My o/s is 32 bit just now

Problem says this app wont run on your pc. I have a legit registered win 10 32bit and want to go to 64 bit version, so what am i doing wrong

I am old school i prefer to have software on a disk so i have just ordered Win 10 64bit from overclockers thanks for all your replies guys..

I downloaded the 64bit media creation tool and when i go to run it it says app wont run on your pc..

Get it from another computer that is running 64-bit windows 10 and then boot from the drive (don't do it from within the OS as it'll tall you to take a hike).

Just make sure to back up any important files as they'll be wiped during the install.

I dont have a comp on 64 bit. So i have ordered the win 10 64 bit dvd from overclockers and will do a clean install.. The reason i have to do this is i play guild wars 2 and the new expansion Heart of Thorns causes 32bit comps to clip on the memory limit, my comp has 16Gb and 2 gpu's with 4Gb each and i hope to be able to play GW2 with out running out of memory all the time. Thanks for your help...

Pick the 32-bit one and when you open the tool it should offer you the option to pick 32-bit or 64-bit when picking the ISO.

Right i now have a dvd with Win 10 64bit. Now this morning my comp was win 7 pro and i used the free upgrade to win 10 pro which worked fine. Now when i go to install Win 10 64Bit from disk i think it will ask for a product key if so do i use my original win 7 Pro key..

You skip it. Once Windows is fully installed it will activate itself when it connects to the internet. Make sure you're using the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit ISO.

on the where to install part i assume drive 0 is my c drive and drive 1 is my e drive. drive 0 has 3 partitions and i never made any when i put the drive in it is a ssd by the way..

Stop.

You should unplug all other drives before doing a clean install of Windows, this way the boot partition will stay on the correct drive.

Well all went well comp has been behaving and I have been playing Guild Wars 2 for around 5 hrs and no crashes. Thank you guys for all your responses good job.... George.
