I realise they'll probably be no definitive solution but I'd like to hear some of your ideas :)

I'm sick to death of them now... it's one of things about living in the countryside yes, but why do they have to pick on my shed? My neighbours don't appear to have a problem! I'm listening to all solutions now, humane/inhumane

Things I've tried so far:

1. Bought a cat - locked him in there for a bit.
2. Got a pest controller in, he laid a few poison traps.
3 Catch n' release humane traps - released them miles away too!

You can't mouseproof a shed.

You just need to make sure there is no where attractive for them to make a nest. Lift everthing up off the floor and put them on shelving units - especially items such as fabric bags, cardboard boxes, flower pots etc.

Where they getting into the shed? You need to seal up all holes, no matter how small, it may be easier just to get a new shed if yours is old. You need to get pest control in many times to replenish the bait in the traps.

Simply stop them getting in, look for every crack/hole and seal them, it could sound like it may not be as easy as that but it is.

This is a lost war, just move out and let the mice have your shed and home.

Keep shed clean, cover up any hole no matter how small and try to make it not like home for them.

Put a moat around the shed with molten lava in it. That should keep the little pests out. And don't forget the drawbridge. :D

Or maybe add some metal skirting around the based of the shed to try and stop them getting through?

im pretty sure a moat of flaming oil world work :p

There is a pretty nasty but very very effective way to get the blighters! ive used this method before on a farm and caught over 30 within hours.

put a bucket full of water in the middle of the shed. attach some string along the middle of the bucket and lubricate it and some peanut butter in the middle of the string. And a walkway for them to get up to the string wood is usually a good choice. they will climb up to get to the peanut butter that they can smell fall off the rope and drown. You can leave the water out and release them but they will die or find there way back eventually.

OR

Alternate version can't vouch for how effective it is though.

Those ultrasonic sounders work, assuming you've got a mains socket/extension lead you could use?
Had thought about that actually! Won't they upset the cat as well though :(

Might sound a bit drastic but I'm looking at a new shed tomorrow and following advice from a grounds-keeper friend of mine I'm planning to raise the shed up of the ground by a few inches, give myself a bit of a cushion from the mice and the damp...

Thanks for some of the cracking suggestions fella's!

You can't keep them out they'll squeeze through the tiniest of gaps. Don't make anywhere attractive to them so they don't make a nest. They come in for the same reason you'd seek shelter it's warmer than outside and its dry. They may even get lucky and find something to eat.

You can only set traps/bait. If you're one of those bleeding hearts types then set a humane trap and and release them somewhere a long way away.

Baited the shed once and couldn't believe the amount they ate plus the number of corpses disposed of.

Obvious error in that vid.

You don't really need a CORDLESS drilling machine.

You could use any drilling machine wired or wireless. :D
