United States Grand Prix 2015, Austin - Race 16/19

Mine did the same. Then it wouldn't let me set it to record again.

The risk with the race is that this is it. They start under the SC, do 2 laps and then cancel it. So the results will be as they line up on the grid but with half points.

afaik the weather isn't supposed to be terrible later on is it? The rain is supposed to be lighter in the afternoon. However one of the biggest differences between the sessions was dropping number of cars and the time between sessions for it to build up. Stick 20 cars + the safety car out there doing 5 laps under the safety car and it will lift a lot of water. With Q1/Q2 weather it won't be a problem. Probably could cope with Q3 weather as well with more cars clearing up the track for 5-10mins.

however

It's right at the edge of this weather system. Almost all the severe rain is passed and it's hours away from the rain stopping really. Wouldn't be surprised to see the race start with safety car and full wets, progress to inters at the very least, maybe even dry tires by the end. Track is just south east of Austin. I'd say good chance of seeing most of the race happen today.

It's ridiculous giving poll to Nico without Q3. And if they can race this evening then why can't they do Q3 later, it only takes 15 minutes.

It's sensible imo.
More chance of destroying the cars, plus the fiat checks for scruteneering, gives engineers time to go over the cars and fox those that have gone off etc.

Pretty sure there is a minimum time in the rules between qually and the race, to allow the teams to prepare, any scrutineering, etc. Seemed sensible to end it at Q2, especially as all the drivers were aware that pretty much any session from FP1 onwards could have counted for their start position.

The race is only at what, 2pm? They could push that back a few hours easily.

Half points with no race would put Rosberg 69.5 points behind Hamilton with 75 points left. Vettel would be out of it, dropping to 75 points behind.

Suspect we're going to be spending more time waiting around tonight for a race which will either not run a racing lap at all or take a long time to get going.

On the 10th anniversary of Indy 2005 I'm sure the last thing F1 wants is another shambles of a race in the USA but suspect we may get it.

The weather forecast shows it drying up and just being cloudy from about 2pm onwards. The sensible thing to do is postpone the start if its still too wet come lights out, rather than waste time trundling around behind the SC.

But Indy 2005 could have been avoided, you can't really avoid the weather.

If only the FIA let teams waste as much petrol as they do paper...

If anyone has watched the Porsche Supercup race, dry lines have formed and the drivers have been hunting the wet patches whilst on wet tyres.

The F1 lot should have no issue, as long as it doesn't rain again. Which isn't forecast.

I see the usual suspect Massa has already been moaning about weather and saying they should have red-flagged everything because it's all far too dangerous.
