Had an eventful group ride today. Managed to fall off again, fortunately nobody saw this time. Bent hanger again though...doh!

Also, had a bit of run in with some local farmers. I threw a banana skin into a hedgerow, and they went absolutely ballistic. Threatened to set their dogs after us and all sorts. Certainly motivated me to climb the hill quicker :P
I wouldn't dream of littering, but didn't really consider a banana skin into a hedge littering. I'll keep hold of them next time till I get home :P

New crankset feels amazing, can't believe what a difference 5mm has made. No more aches in my quads, and I'm finding I can hold onto the group far more easily.

Just in from this mornings ride, particularly chilly with a few degrees difference.

Managed to PR Whiteleaf and Kop again (47.5m/3,000ft - sub 3 hours) but right now I am:

Including throwing half my lunch on the kitchen floor... :p Will write it up later when my brain wants to function.

can I ask for your opinion please?

you probably cant remember, but I have 2 bikes, both locked outside with a cover over the top
Top of the range locks through the frame and wheels, but no alarm

As there have been a lot of cycle thefts in my region lately (seems to be getting worse) I've been thinking all morning about how to attach an alarm to it all (mainly for the night as somebody is always here during the day)

I thought if I bought Kabrus alarm padlock, attach it to the U lock, and if anyone tried to tamper with the U lock, padlock or bike the alarm goes off

well that's what I'm hoping, is it worth me buying one ?

what difference will an alarm make during the night if no one is there? get a flood light with motion sensor or something so it goes off when there's someone in area, unless it's in front of the house?

we will all hear it , so id look out the window/rush to it as its at the back of the house

Raced in the rain on Saturday, enough of a sprint to take 2nd, and enough points to get my 2nd Cat :D

Raced today in an E123, and got dropped after 90 mins! Tough racing with elites, not helped by drinks last night and not having any gels on the bike!

Very slow ride with a few friends today. Annoyingly the SD card in my Garmin is knackered too so I've lost all my maps. I spent a good 15 minutes on the ride constantly resetting the damn thing trying to get it to work. Bit irritating but at least it will force me to update from my 2+ year out of date maps.

So here's the route:

Definitely need to get a wind blocking jersey as I'm using a fairly light jersey with bib shorts and arm & knee warmers and then just a windproof running jacket over the top. So perfectly fine along the flats but took it off before the first climb because I would cook in it otherwise and not being faffed to put it back on between core temp was probably less than optimal.

I stuck 1g of salt in with each 750ml bottle which has 1 electrolyte tab with caffeine, some BCAA's and other aminos. Got a very slight twinge in my right medialis just after 2 hours in but I took in some more fluid shortly after and didn't hear from it again. So I think I need about 3g salt/50m, I'd had fairly sodium heavy food yesterday too. A bike fit to confirm my positioning is optimal would help but another gram of salt is much cheaper :p

Anyway I felt quite quick up my first climb and chopped another 20 seconds off :)

(The official Top 100 climbs segment is slightly shorter with a time of 7:06 but I keep going till I pass the top of Kop, goal is to get under as far under 7 minutes as possible).

And then Kop today felt like an absolute wall, especially near the end staring up at a 20% when I felt like I was close to blowing was intimidating but I just put my head down and told myself I could die when I finished :D (Actually very nearly clipped by a passing car just after the climb finished as I was swerving about struggling to see )

(Annoyingly there are 9 women quicker up this than me :p)

Nothing special to report on Aston today about 25 seconds slower than last time but can't have it all. Considering I had an awful 82miles at the South Downs last Sunday, trained twice at the gym (barely) and spun twice in the week can't complain.

I did take a 45 minute nap at 2PM because my brain & body were not playing ball, which is a first for me. Calorie deficit's eh. Can't wait to be maintaining and performing even more strongly

Shorter ride next weekend!

Adjusted my saddle, stem and cleats whilst on the rollers. Had to move the rollers half into a cupboard at the back door as my neighbour came to the door due to noise where I had them before lol. 5 minute warm up, 3 on 1 off 10 times and a short warm down. Sweating buckets by the end of it.

Put 5mm spacer back under my stem, moved cleats in slightly, saddle back to what it was set before and slightly forward... Feels good. Still going to replace the metal plates on my pedals to make it feel less 'vague'
