Mouse proofing my shed

You can't keep them out they'll squeeze through the tiniest of gaps. Don't make anywhere attractive to them so they don't make a nest. They come in for the same reason you'd seek shelter it's warmer than outside and its dry. They may even get lucky and find something to eat.

You can only set traps/bait. If you're one of those bleeding hearts types then set a humane trap and and release them somewhere a long way away.

Baited the shed once and couldn't believe the amount they ate plus the number of corpses disposed of.

A mouse can get through any hole you can push a pencil through!

Cat flap (in shed) + Cat!

They are a pain in the butt but not as bad as rats. Man they'll chew through concrete :(

You can get new mouse/rat poison now which is a paint which you paint on all the points of entry.

Mouse squeezes through hole, covers fur in the poison and then when it grooms itself it kills it.

Please do not use poison!

Sick/dying mice are more easily caught by Cats who will, in turn, be poisoned!

Is that a bad thing? :D

Cats are one of those strange things in life, people either love them or hate them. There is no middle ground. :p

But be aware that for those who do have Cats as members of their family, the loss of the Cat as a result of the careless use of poison by a neighbour would be devastating, almost as devastating as the loss of a child!

Have you got autism?

Few things:

- remove whatever is attracting them, so heat source or food source
- sweep the floor to remove dust/debris
- fill any holes with steel wool / expanding foam for bigger holes.

- Don't bother with humane traps, get some proper ones, at least that way you know it can't possibly be the same mice coming back.
The old wooden ones are a waste of time as aren't sensitive enough - best ones I have found are the black plastic rentokil advanced ones - super sensitive and easy to set, best bait to use is a small piece of mars bar

any mice you catch, flay the skin off them and nail them to the side of the shed - should be deterrent enough to any other mice who fancy a bit trespassing! :p
