Will I ruin my fans on my Zotac 980 Ti AMP EXTREME ?

basically its been around 25 days since I bought my 980ti amp extreme

The thing is that as soon as I start my PC up the temps hit 60.c

This is just browsing the internet, nothing else, sometimes watching a movie

The fans never spin and the card always stays stable at 60c, from my point of view this is to high for normal browsing,

and guru3d review states idle temps are 36c

So what Ive been doing is manually running the fans at 20%, this gives me stable temps of around 35c-37c

So when Im gaming I then increase the fan speeds to around 35-40%

So since im manually running the fans, that will drain the life away from the fans right?

What are your card temps on idle and if you own the same card what do you do to maintain low temps?

out of curiosity, are you running your card in "maximum performance mode" or "adaptive performance mode" in the nvidia control panel?. i have exactly the same card and when its set to max performance, it hovers at 60 degrees all the time, when set to adaptive it sinks down to about 35 unless gaming and then even at full whack it stays around 54 degrees.

oh via the "manage 3d settings" under Global settings/power management mode its selected at adaptive, is that correct or shall i change it to Prefer maximum performance?

also i installed the fire storm software, where it gives you the option to 1 click overclock to 3d and 3d+, right now its on default settings 2d

I did set it to 3d once and idle temps went to 80c with no fans spinning, so i turned it back to deafult 2d settings.

well that slight overclcok from 2d to 3d really hits the temps, cant think why the fans dont spin even when its at 80c, i think when your NOT gaming the fans don't spin...

Thats why I like my previous cards where the fans spin all the time

Not sure why it would ramp temps up? Ive seen applications and desktop going over 120fpson my 120Hz monitor but remains at idle clocks. Is this just a Nvidia issue?

It's just that 1440/144hz requires a higher clock speed then the standard idle p state, higher clock speed = moar volts = higher idle temps. Set Windows/desktop to 120hz and set nvcp to use 'highest available' refresh for everything else, which will force 144hz in game.
