Currently looking for a new washer for under £400
Size 600 wide x850 high x550 deep max.

Quite like the look of the Samsung EcoBubble and with a 5 yr warranty they seem like a good deal but reports say they are quite noisy.

Currently have a Bosch (10 years old) that I probanly should have replaced 2 years ago as it's hit and miss if it takes the softener or not.
The good thing with the Bosch is the normal wash times are approx 1hr 20mins but can add extend wash as required which takes the wash to around 2 hours.
Most clothes only ever require the shorter wash as are not really dirty.

Don't need a million functions, just a good solid, reliable washer that is pretty quiet and has a spin only function.

A review site seems to like the John Lewis own brand washing machine - have any of you got one?
 
Oldcoals on here is your man on this one, although on his recommendation I went for an LG Direct drive.

I was considering the ecobuble but there was a good reason I didn't go for that (reason escapes me at the moment) but the LG was exactly what I was after and after a few months of use I'm really pleased with it.

Bosch was another on my list but the build quality isn't as good as it used to be and when compared to the direct drive machines and the difference in price, it was a no brainer.

I went for the LG F14A7FDSA5 (true steam model) from John Lewis (came with 5 year warranty).
 
As above, LG direct drive are great. We have a washer dryer, thread on here.

Samsung eco bubble seem well regarded, but check the size of them as when we were looking the one I liked was too big.
 
I went for a Samsung ecobubble from Currys with 5 year warranty. It replaced a cheap whirlpool.

I find it much quieter than the old washing machine, despite having a faster spin (1400 vs 1200). Clothes come out much drier, despite having a larger drum.

Eco wash is 2hrs at a lower temp. Standard daily wash is around 1hr. Each preset is adjustable by changing spin speeds, stain settings and such like, which adjusts the time accordingly.

I think I paid £320 (it was on offer and had a voucher code). LG were around the same price for a similar machine, but the 5 year warranty on the samsung swung it for me.

Can't find a decent LG in my price range.

What size drum for family of four?
Is 7kg enough or go 8kg?

After reading a gazillion reviews on something so mundane I can't make my mind up.
I do like the fact that the Samsungs have 5 year warranty and thus faith in their offerings.

Any good reason not to go Samsung?

I'm sure you'll be fine most modern white goods are ridiculously reliable in the short-medium term these days and I'm sure the washing performance will be more than adequate!

Have this exact washing machine and it's excellent - quiet and does a very good job at cleaning clothes. Had it 6 months and it's been super reliable so far.
 
Picked up and installed last night, seems ok, was noisier than I expected it to be though.
Missus loves the 8kg drum, she brought her usual amount of washing down and had to go and get another handful and there was still loads of room left.
I think my old washer was 6kg but might of been 5kg.
