Bye bye M135i ...

Tempted to get the subtle M-Sport rear spoiler on the car at some point. Does anyone have any experience of purchasing/fitting?

ebay, imported from taiwan or where every, there usually very well priced and somehow a perfect color match

Subtle

I love the look of the BMW's. I just find the inside, dated for want of a better word. They don't seem to be as up to date with the Audi's for instance.

If by up-to-date, you mean looking like the cockpit of a space shuttle with switches and stuff everywhere, then your right. I felt the same when I moved from my A4 to my 3 series (LCI E91). I felt the 3 series was too boring on the looks department (interior as well as exterior).

On the other hand, I quickly got over that and realised how much nicer feeling the BMW interior is. I now MUCH prefer the interior of my 5 series to the A6 I was looking at previously. Feels much better put together, and slightly "classier" for having more integration with the on board computer systems (iDrive).

I also found iDrive to be miles ahead of the look / feel of the A4's / A6's system. Although it wasn't exactly bad, I just felt the Audi looked a lot more "dated", again, for want of a better word.

I do hope you're joking!

I was in a BMW 525D yesterday, it was solid, well designed and very modern. I then sat in an Audi A6 S line and it was terrible in comparison. The 6.5" screen was tiny and resolution was terrible comapered to that on the BMW. It's put me off buying an Audi and put me in a predicement on what to buy as i would really find 'quattro' useful where i work, but not sure if you can get BMW's X-Drive in the 5 series. If you can, then i WILL be getting a BMW 5 series. And i'm usually an audi fanboy!

F10 xDrive is LHD-only, F30 comes in xDrive, but the interior is not up to scratch.

Is the C7 interior really that bad? I've poked around the A6/A7 at dealers but I wasn't shocked by the poor quality, put it that way.

My C6 interior is much better than an E60 though, that's for damn sure!

On its own, you're right. It isn't really that bad. But go sit in an A6, then pop round to BMW and sit in a 5 series and the difference is very noticeable. It was to me anyway. I paid quite a bit more to be in the 5 series instead of an A6 or E class for that very reason.

I would imagine they will introduce xDrive in the UK on the next 5 Series in 2017.

Since the 3 series xDrive has proven fairly popular.

My local dealer has told me that he thinks the next generation 5 series will come with X-Drive. That was my thinking too. Bound to happen.

Probably won't t now I've said that though.

When is the next 5 series due out anyway? 2017 as you say? Got itchy feet, and thinking what I could replace mine with. A 540i X-Drive touring should fit the bill well.

That interior :(

Lovely looking car on the outside though, and I like the HUD

2017 for the 5 to be updated is about right though, my E is up for renewal next August and I was hoping there would be a new 5 before then.

The interior is the best part for me.

For me the build quality of the interior is not that special, sorry. The 'push' test on the interior shows many a creaking plastic and some of those plastics look and feel cheap, certainly compared to previous generations. I think it's a nice place to sit and the controls work well and are well laid out, but I don't think the quality is what it should be.

The same can be said about most premium cars to be fair, i remember Fox making my S-Class dash creak at a meet once for example :p

My R230 SL Mercs have been the same, the exception to this is my Range Rover which feels absolutely rock solid everywhere - but thats an exception to the rule ime.
