Germaine Greer on Transexuality

In that case i'm struggling to imagine this situation where a trans woman walks into a female bathroom and anything notable happens, much less people run screaming

The issue is with people are very clearly not convincing anyone. Unfairly or not, but if someone is convincing enough they're not going to have any issues.

and you feel women would be more comfortable with the second person in their bath room than the first correct?

remember now you have no idea what's in thier pants they've just walked into the loo.

Those two examples are exceptions, there are some hideous examples of TS around who are obviously male by birth and can be easily presumed to be guys out on a stag night or one of the many other reasonable explanations.

Yeah, no.

http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Gender-dysphoria/Pages/Introduction.aspx

It's still a disorder if you understand what disorder means.

There are a huge amount of publications on this which we don't have the skill or time to really go into here, but the consensus is definitely moving towards a position that gender dysphoria is not itself a disorder, but it can be a possible cause of depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction or other conditions. That said, there is no real consensus on the medical definition of disorder, but probably the most convincing one i've seen states that a patient must present with distress, disability, an increased risk of death, pain, disability, or loss of personal freedom, and if there is a dysfunction in the individual or if it simply deviant behaviour, or if it is a conflict between the individual and society.

i wouldn't say they're exceptions the majority of trans people i know would pass without a second glance.

so which bathroom should they use as you keep making a point of it.

not really, it is you who keeps bringing it up - you posted the same pictures several pages back - I've already said in the previous post I don't think they'd have an issue using a cubicle in say the female bathroom if they pass that well

should there be some kind of attractiveness/femininity scale for who can use the ladies, as some genetic women would fall foul of that.

unlikely, if ugly women do have an issue using women's bathrooms then you're welcome to cite examples but I'm not sure that is an issue

but some trans people are obvious and there could be objections there

I'm not sure why you're focused on toilets though - cubicles stop that from being much of an issue.

Changing facilities without cubicles, communal showers are a bit different.

As are other facilities segregated by sex such as women's shelters, rape counselling sessions for women etc..

all of which I've mentioned before - yet you're focusing on toilets, which is a rather minor issue, especially for someone who passes easily

you were the one who kept bringing up trans people in "women only spaces" because the majority of those spaces are toilets.

rape counselling, yeah you're not gonna find that many rape victims who will want another rape victim thrown out of the counselling session.

seriosuly trust me on that.

There are also manly looking cis women. Should they be banned from female bathrooms too?

The number of "straight" men who fawn over Bailey Jay is comical. Just come out of the closet already!

Never heard of, googled, oh right I see, obviously an exception and would never have a problem using the ladies room. I can't see how a straight guy could fawn over that person once they knew the truth. And that's not prejudicial it's personal sexual preference.

yet I've pointed out several times that they're not a big deal and you repeatedly focus on toilets and then post the same pictures of trans people who pass really well

yet you'll find sessions that are specifically 'women only'

it is actually one of the examples where it is allowed in law to exclude trans women

That's a pretty good response from someone like Germaine Greer, but then she's not the most ridiculous feminist of the bunch.

Will be interesting to see if she caves and makes a scripted, disingenuous apology as many others have.

to be faiur she also equates trans women to rapists

When he forces his way into the few private spaces woman may enjoy and shouts down their objections, and bombards the women who will not accept him with hate mail, he does as rapists have always done

from her book "the whole woman"
