I dunno what to eat to keep calories coming in. Ive lost a bunch of weight since having my jaw broken and currently my teeth are pretty much wired closed.

Can anyone recommend some good recipes I can just throw in the blender?

Thanks guys.

Can't give any recipes but do you drink Fortisip?

They will give you all your necessary vitamins and minerals and stop you losing weight. I had them when recovering from a major operation. They taste nice too. Like a lovely milkshake. Better than that nurishment crap you buy in the newsagents. This is proper medical stuff. You can get it on prescription.

IIRC the nutritional values aren't actually that different between the 2 yes it may be a prescribed product but it's still loaded with sugar to bump the kcals up.

I might go to the doctors and ask about it actually. Im struggling to bring myself to eat enough like this. Its pretty frustrating because I love food usually!

How about cooking up a beef stew to blend - whack in plenty of root vegetables (lots of goodness in there).

I would have thought they would have prescribed you liquid supplements like Fortisip, Forticreme and so on as a result of broken jaw.

Anyway, just find some smoothie recipes online. Some blenders allow for soup making also.

Lots of soups
Protein shake with whole milk
Smoothies with plenty of Greek yogurt, nuts, chia & flax seeds, spinach/kale etc.
You can top yourself up with energy gel/gu packs used by athletes.

I had a jaw reconstruction years ago, teeth wired shut the works!
3 months with no solids. I was 18 at the time in fact couldnt eat my own bloody birthday cake!
I know we got lots of those youngs fish in butter sauce and potatoes blended with cream and I liked those. I think my mum just took most normal stuff and blended! Some worked some didnt.

Thanks guys! Good advice.

Energy levels are definitely down. It's not a nice experience I tell ya!

I quite like smoothies with avocado in it. Thick and satisfying! :p

Smoothies with granola and protein added to it.

Green smothies, kale, spinach etc... Lots of recipes.

Stews which are blitzed - it'll be like hot soup instead.

Yes it's quite liquid, but you can still get your fibre from it if you're careful.

Recently made pea with ham soup which is basically green split peas, an onion and bacon. It's delish and blends down. Also tarka dhal if you've got another saucepan.

You can make hearty soup with pretty much anything. Roast dinner and gravy in the blender, add a bit more boiling water and seasoning, wazz it down and that's job done!

Overnight oats can make a damn fine smoothie too.

Hot sticky toffee pudding and custard smoothie sounds like it can't fail either
