I don't think this counts as a medical thread?

Has anyone managed to stop their snoring? It's causing real problems at the moment as my girlfriend is a light sleeper and I wake her up (even with earplugs in!) and she ends up hitting me repeatedly in the night so we both have a terrible nights sleep.

I don't sleep on my back, always front or side. I'm not overweight and I don't drink alcohol before bed but still manage to snore away. Any ideas?

Hold your breath?

And go see a doc there could be loads of reasons. I personally started snoring under stress caused high blood pressure and apparently inflated a blood vessel in my nose causing the horrific noise that could wake the dead.

this was the same for me!! as soon as my blood pressure tablets started my snoring greatly reduced..its not gone completely but I can breathe freely now when previously I always felt like I had blocked sinuses

also try some better ear plugs

we have an occasional noisy neighbour..I use Howard leight Max once they are in properly I could sleep through an explosion!

sounds like your girlfriend isn't tired enough when going to bed ;)

This setup was so good for a dog/bitch joke but I can't in case someone takes it the wrong way and I get reported for it and I'm already skating on thin ice and everything ****ing sucks.

I ended up getting the offending area cauterized. Ached like hell for a while but problem solved :).

I ended having this procedure which completely cured my snoring but I had to spend two weeks on morphine and not eating because I got an infection. Unfortunately it isn't a permanent cure, I had the surgery 2-3 years ago andI have slowly started snoring slightly again.

I get the 'I'm too tired' line far too often already!

I think my issue is probably my nose. I regularly get nose bleeds and always have. Might be related?

Yeah you should really see a GP if you haven't already as bad snoring can be fatal (sleep apnea).

According to my ex those snore strips worked for me.
