Freemium games with micro transactions that allow you to buy credits or unlock levels. What are your thoughts on this money making model. A lot of these developers are using some pretty dirty techniques to temp money out of people to they extent of tailoring their games to meet an individuals tastes after researching their likes/dislikes online on sites such as Facebook.

I don't mind it on games such as Clash of Clans, because I'm not really missing out on anything if I don't spend money. Games like Candy Crush and the like annoy me though, where you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can play it again unless you open your wallet.

There are only a few of these types of games that make any money and most of those rely on large spenders to make up the majority of their revenue. afaik

Free games like candy crush, just use the life/time rewind trick for more instant lives ;) but if people wanna spend money on silly mobile games then that's their business. I personally wouldn't spend a penny on a mobile game. If I can't cheat more lives out of it by reversing my phones date I'll delete it.

Alternative is to make a load of spare accounts on your phone. Then sync your fb account with the other accounts versions of Candy Crush. When you run out of lives on one, you switch to the next account.

It's as easy as reversing your date a day, load the game up (voila, full lives again) switch back to settings and set time/date back to auto :p back to game.

Meh, they don't bother me at all. They don't force you to buy anything. If you're silly enough to spend a significant amount on micro transactions then that's your problem and somebody else deserves your money anyway :p

Trials xtream games at bad for it.

I'm currently playing number 4. You can unlock the first 2 areas buy playing the game. But then the next area is either pay nearly £3 but o unlock them all youould need to pay £64.99 to get enough coins to unlock the levels

I know, I do it myself.

But try explaining that to a 50 year old who never touches the settings in their phones. User accounts is miles simpler for someone non tech minded (the target audiencewho these games are trying to get cash out off)

Well a lot of games(coc, bb, etc) are server side login and authentication so you can't just change the date on your phone.

They're only a cash cow if you let them be. I don't really game a huge amount on my phone to be honest, though I have had phases of Candy Crush and Two Dots. I've never once been tempted to buy upgrades or whatever. They're just a time waster; I'd rather spend the money towards a proper app which deserves it.
