Anyone else had a distinct lack of trick or treaters this year?

Only two this year - was quite surprised as we had quite a few last year and live in a reasonably well off area so was expecting more.

Was at my sisters tonight and she had over 150, the most she had ever had

thats gotta be up north somewhere, i bet they wear those shell suits, but they do though dont they though

eheh eh eh.. calm down

All the kids are too busy trick or treating on social media and the parents are too busy on.. social media to take them out.

I wonder if there's a paedophile left on the planet who doesn't have facebook.

3 or 4 big crowds here, usually have people spaced out but they seem to have become hoards this year.
Now if only I could see their faces when they chomp down on those centre shocks... :D

Halloweens origins are not American :)it's actually amazing how many people think America made it :). The origins of Halloween in fact are Irish Celtic :) though it was adopted by America, americanised and then for some reason adopted by us.

The origins may be Celtic but it's certainly true that we're copying the Americans. What we have today in this country is not a Celtic festival, but exactly resembles the American shebang, pumpkins, spooky dress-up, trick or treat and all the rest.

The schools round our way tell the kids to not knock on a door unless they have obvious signs of halloween decorations up. We put a pumpkin lantern out so we had plenty of kids knocking on our door. :)

Heard a few kids shouting that we had a pumpkin outside so maybe they do the same round here.

Nothing here, nor as far as I remember, for the last couple of years.

And hurray for that. It's a right pain of a practice and, at least in modern 'trick or treat' form, an American import I detest.

If people overseeing kids doing it stick to houses with some visible sign it's welcome, then fine. Fair enough. But we don't find it at all charming, or appealing, or fun, and want just to be left in peace and quiet. If parents still let kids ring my bell, despite lack of welcome indications and the sign, they're likely to get a closer encounter with an ogre than they anticipated.

Looks like no one in my area cares about this tradition as there appears to be precisely zero decorations on/around any of the houses near me. My housemates and I deliberately stayed out tonight so even if there was people knocking, we wouldn't have known. ;) :D :)

Dunno I've jst got home from the brixton jam what a baging night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is a 'baging' night? https://www.tagalog-dictionary.com/search?word=baging

Oh... that doesn't sound like fun to me...
