780 good enough for 34inc 1440p Superwide ?

I'm happy with my clocked 780 for 1080p but would want more for 1440p. Depends how much you want the high/max settings and if you are willing to live with 40-60fps averages on more demanding games.

Below is killing stuff in Borderlands PS

Does borderlands work in proper fullscreen mode or is that window/borderless mode? - I'd have thought it would run a bit faster than 1080MHz.

Had two 780's in sli here. Different revision gigabyte wf models. Bit of a difference in clock speeds between both.

Shot from bf4.

Card 1 was a rev2 model with dual x8 power connectors. Card 2 was the rev1 model that used 1x6 pin and 1x 8 pin. Different length pcb's on them too.

before i had my 980's i had a single amd 290 and that worked pretty well at 3440x1440, you could look out for a used one to tide you over

Ive got B1

Here are my current clocks

Oversized image, use spoiler tags if it is over 1280x wide.

What about my mem? I've not overclocked it as never needed to running 1080p

My A1 780 Classified used too sit at 1333 boost when at box clocks, It still had nowhere near the grunt for 3440 x 1440. I had to turn settings down in lots of titles for 1080p.

8GB 390X would be a fair option for that resolution - 390 is more a 970 competitor overall.

Not enough of an upgrade youre right

sorry didnt have time, the samsung is sold and packed up to go, if your anywhere near bristol i could lend you a 980 to try but i have them up for sale as im getting the x34 freesync

Saw them and tempted by one but I'm not sue its the correct timing to buy a 980..Reckon I would loose loads on it...

Yeah...how long before pascal ?

I have no idea - not been following the thread lately. The question you have to ask yourself is whether the performance with your current card is affecting your enjoyment to the point you can't play the games you want. If it is, then I would consider a 980 ti if I were desperate and could afford it, otherwise if it''s not too bad, then wait for pascal.
