New Speakers for a car?

It was probably a promotion, when I went into halfords to buy some bits for the bike I saw it. That was some time ago though, next time I'll confirm it before posting. :p

Okay thanks guys. Now I need to make my mind and chose between these two
Kenwood DPX-406DAB vs DPX-306BT? Any ideas 306Bt is 50 pounds cheaper. Would I miss something buying cheaper one? eg worse amp etc? I tried look online but cant find anyone talking about these two.

Also would someone help me chose adaptors as I think I will need some for steering wheel and head unit but not sure.

Go to www.incartec.co.uk for the adapters

For a start they'll be cheaper than halfords. They also have a wizard - you tell them what the car is and what you're fitting and it spits out a list of adapters you'll need. Generally the fascias for double din (not "dim" btw!!!) come with a pocket for single din installation. Also if you're buying steering control adapters those are almost always INSTEAD OF the wiring adapter, you won't need both. So you'll need a steering control adapter, aerial adapter, fascia and a cage if you're buying a double din unit and it doesn't come with one (single din always does, double doesn't always include a cage).

If you're not sure, email or call incartec, they know what they're talking about and you'll have a reply really quickly normally.

Also I heard that radio need to be connected to car lighter is this true? But I also heard if you get special adapter it doesn't need to be so what adapter would I need to get in order to ensure that?

As above, no it's not. The wiring adapters are really quite simple. Unplug connector/connectors from old head unit, plug into adapter, plug adapter into wiring harness that comes with new head unit then plug that into new head unit.

Only a little more complicated if you have steering wheel controls too. Even then it's basically the same, just there'll be a little box that connects to the adapter harness then you need a patch lead to go from this box to the new head unit which varies depending on manufacturer.

Do you have steering controls? Adapter harness for no steering controls is probably going to only around a tenner. With steering controls probably around £20-£30.

Oh, I believe for the Corsa you will need an aerial adapter to plug your aerial into the new head unit too. Usually only 3 quid or so. Incartec site linked to above seems to be a good bet for filtering down to what you'll need.

I just got DPX306BT in my corsa and it did improve the sound from front speakers but it still sounds a bit compressed.
1) Any ideas on good budget speakers replacement.
2) I also heard that doors speakers must be damped in order to get better sound, what would be the best way to do it, any ideas?

Car stereos look like they havent changed at all since barry boy bodykits in the Max Powah days. Are there any stylish third party stereos? That arent all blue/red LED monstrosities?

95% of the touchscreen double din units look fine - as there's no space for blingy LEDs!

Check the Pioneer Double Din ones, the touch screen ones are lush

Function> Form.

I got one of these:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015...APE-FLAC-WAV-FM-AM-USB-1-Din/32422187008.html

Just for less than half the price, think I paid 33 euros for it.

The amp isn't great, STMicroelectronics tda7388, but it's far superior to that stock piece of **** citroen mounted in the car. A2DP works good, SD slot behind detachable front, USB works, Aux works. Who the hell needs cd's in this day of age, simply get a 64gb SD card in there, and perhaps some usb sticks, and spotify, why use outdated optical media rubbish ?

Only disadvantages for me were: no RDS and no iso plug ( had to solder on iso plugs myself, as wanted it neatly, iso plugs are just 3 euros tho). But otherwise, completely satisfied with it.

Paying more than 50 quid for a radio without A2DP and either usb or SD support is madness imho, irrelevant of how it looks.
