Best place to buy a Segway?

Someone has actually opened a store down the road from me selling those balance boards, named 'Swegway'. Cringe every time I see it, and you can imagine what the staff look like... :o

Well the crap small self balancing ones can be had for that much but are now illegal to use on pavements apparently.

I don't see the police going out of their way to enforce this tbh.

I want to use one but i wouldn't want to be seen using one :p
There's no "now illegal" the legal situation of proper Segways has been exactly the same for years. Not legal on the road, not legal on the pavement. That's why they're incredibly rare in the UK compared to other countries.

I've got a "hoverboard" in the office as a sample as we're stocking a few, pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Wouldn't buy one but if someone gave me one they're fun.

Anyway look for one which has a Samsung battery. The rest of the parts all all very similar but the battery is the important bit.

I've never understood the reasoning behind these things being illegal. If, for whatever reason is the flavour of the month, the government want everyone to stop using their cars and want to cut down on emissions pumped out by buses then these Segway things would be ideal for people with short commutes. People in other countries use them without a problem, I was in Holland and Belgium not long back and they were everywhere, so why can't we?

It's like the government always trying to get people to quit smoking, why would they be doing that when they get an absolute ****load of tax from the sales of tobacco and more than a few of them are on the boards of tobacco companies?

I don't think it's particularly that they are illegal, they are not legal for use on pavements, and they haven't gone through the process for licencing for use on the road. I'm not sure if there's a particular stumbling block for them to become a licenceable vehicle
