Student diversity officer in racism row could lose her job after allegedly tweeting 'kill all white

wait until we see people who purposefully damage themselves because they're 'trans-disabled'... OH WAIT

They wouldn't have the minerals, if one of them woke up in the morning with my muscular dystrophy I guarantee they'd be sniveling wrecks.

None of them have any strength of character, they just want to play victim complex games and blame the world for their own short comings.
 
What the hell is a diversity officer anyway?

What it should represent is people from all backgrounds, communities, creeds, whatever groups you can think of and ensuring that there are fair opportunities for all.

This does not, in any way, mean that minority groups should ever curry favour in place of majority groups purely on the basis of them being a minority group; this is where many of them fall down.

I attend gender equality discussions, am a member of a core working group to support those with disabilities and/or requiring reasonable changes to working practices and also am involved in promoting mental health and wellbeing within the corporate climate. Diversity and inclusion is all-important and where we have people of diversity coming together to achieve a common goal it is more likely that we will achieve greater than should the working group be all of the same type.

I'm white, male and in my mid-30s so many people might describe me as having white male privilege. This undermines everything I (and many, many others) am doing in working towards a supportive and inclusive society, and in fact seeking to embed this as a societal norm and not an outlandish proposal.

Anyone trying to say that racism doesn't and can never work towards whites, or sexism doesn't and can never work towards men is simply pushing their own agenda. It's disgusting that this is not more obvious to people, but that only demonstrates the work that is left to do.

Diversity is just a hammer blow on them because it normally means promoting anyone but a white male. What is meant to stop discrimination does in effect discriminate against a certain group. We have laws to this so in effect her role is just another made up cushy job designed to get left-wing weirdos into positions of power.

I disagree with you on diversity. It isn't about race or gender it's about fairness and equality.

I reckon the vast majority of our member base would fit into that category or similar. I don't believe there is all that much deprivation (though, of course, entirely likely that there is some at least).

None of the current wave of social justice has any grounding in equality (or reality imo), it just pushes positive discrimination as the alternative answer and doesn't provide any real solution of finding equality. Equality from my point of view means being blind to a persons ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation and every other characteristic being used for a sound bite and opportunities should be given to the ones who earn it. Crazy I know, if you're the best candidate for the training or career then you should be the one to do it. Employers should be allowed this choice without fear of legal comeback.

I am honestly worried that by the time my children grow up they'll be seeking employment in a labour market that hires based on profiling rather than on abilities, that is even if they can get to do the training for a career they want because they don't meet the requirements set by an equalities commission. Then again two of them have recognised 'complex additional needs' (we don't say disabled any more), so they can play that card if they need too - I do not condone this behaviour and have raised them to be themselves and not their conditions unlike pretty much every other parent with similar kids these days. My other son is normal, apart from being a ginger but that doesn't count, yet.

Equality means the same treatment for all. It might not happen yet, but bringing another set of bias into the mix just swaps one prejudice for another.

"Positive" discrimination is still discrimination which can prevent the best candidate from being offered the job.

Unfortunately, people hire people like themselves. Old white middle-class men tend to hire other old white middle-class men. It's hard to break the cycle. Sometimes the only way to overcome this issue is positive discrimination like the Rooney Rule.
 
I despise 'positive discrimination' because it's a complete misnomer. There can be no positives from discrimination. What needs to be reviewed is why there are no balances in certain areas, and seeking to achieve that balance through fairness in opportunity and not through promoting some over others without merit.

People hire like themselves because they want to spend time with people of similar ideologies. Forcing a mixture of beliefs isn't equality its oppression. Forcing people into positions they haven't earned is called entitlement, again not equality - all the SJW movement want to do is force changes that the majority do not want. If more of these minorities wanted to be part of political parties they have the freedom to do so, but there is a process as part of our electorate that needs to be followed and the choice of the pool is down to the voters, i.e. the majority who you would hope elect on merit or a shared ideology. Your example to pick on is poor, the Tories have had a woman elected into the most senior position in government, pretty sure she chose based on ability and merit over gender, for 70's politics having a female party leader is pretty progressive thinking. Didn't think I would ever be saying that about them... *shudders*

We have pretty decent equality laws in this country - people do ignore, break, flaunt them, but we also have traffic laws with which the same happens. People still steal and murder, both illegal as well. I would like to say SJW's are just misguided but want to do the right thing, but the story in the OP is just an example of how dangerously deluded these people are. How you can think an entire demographic deserves to die because of something they have no choice in being is ridiculous and without wanting to invoke Godwin's, we're stepping rather close to a tyrant with a hobby for wanting genocide...

Rebalancing the numbers will take time. You have to allow for new generations to train and educate themselves, to work up from the bottom and gain experiences before you'll see a change in the social/ethnic/gender make up at the top. None of the current timetables for forced change allow for this. The economy, our uniformed services and government will be filled with the wrong leadership choices because they lack the training or experiences needed to hold these positions of power.

As per my own worries for my kids - the highlighting of positive discrimination means if you're white male what's the point in even trying? The doors will be closed to education and employment opportunities because you don't fit a required profile to meet published equality statistics. We seem to be heading into a pretty FUBAR and/or depressing future thanks to current social thinking.

Doesn't work. Anyone hired from a minority under positive discrimination regardless of them very possibly being the best person on the planet for the job will always be considered to have been gifted the position through discrimination.
