I hate how new cable extensions are so stiff when you first get them, I've also bought some cable comes which I'm using but they tend to just pop off when i try get the cables in the right positions.

Any tips and tricks on softening up my cables?

Plastic braid type extensions work well after you bend them a time or two before installing them. Paracord style dont suffer as much from this issue, (bitfenix being a good example). As for the cable combs, are they the correct size for the braid on the cable?

A trick I used when making many builds is to have a water spray bottle and lightly spray them then bend to the required shape then spray a little hairspray onto them. Once dry they hold the shape your after.

Just ensure they are completely dry before use!

yeah the combs are the right size, the issue is when i try bend the extension round behind my motherboard tray. I've noticed that the cables are actually longer on one side (3 pins) on my silverstone 6 pins giving the cable extra slack. well i say slack lightly because its really stiff and causing the cable to be completely out of whack and i can't get them to look good at all. Example:

I'm using a mix of silverstone/bitfenix extensions, the bitfenix don't seem as bad but they still don't feel right.

As you can see the bitfenix (top) are slightly better than the silverstone ones.

(Ignore the fifth extension in the background, its for my sound card once i get it)

Alternatively the very best solution is to stitch the cables together. It requires a lot more work but any case that I plan to show off will always have stitched cables. Cables combs are an aftermarket solution to what the modding community has done for a long time.

Yeah, to be honest though only reason I'm not stitching these is the time it takes and also, if i was to stitch them i'd braid the original psu cables and not extensions.
