It looks pretty good but like most Nvidia stuff I just find it looks a little wrong. The amount of smoke and the thickness of it and the way it moves (in a very predictable pattern like a looping gif as well) just makes it look like it's good but it could do with a bit of work still. In game though I imagine you're going to find it a bit more immersive than literally staring at it and trying to analyse how it looks of course.
Yeah some gameplay elements could be cool too like when you try and slide and hit someone the smoke would make it look fun and coolIn game most of the time you dont notice... you spend more time playing the game.
When your in a cutscene or talking to someone or perched on a building you might stop and go wow! But like most games if you play at high or ultra when playing it offers very little difference. That being said thats why PC gamers myself included pay 200% more to get a 5% difference in looks![]()

I'd take a Fury X over a 980ti but not a regular Fury. That's not really on the grounds of performance I just find the Fury X really desirable, new and exciting and all that, there is no denying the Ti is the better performer though.
Ok so im prepared to move over to nvidea and the 980ti looks mighty impressive
but them i got thinking about a slightly different tack.
How does a 980ti compare
- 1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 980Ti Superclocked+ ACX 2.0+ 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (06G-P4-4995-KR= £529.99
With a 970 gtx
- 1 x Asus GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Strix 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card= £275.99
Total: £816.48
(includes shipping: £10.50)
just for one but also with potentially adding a second to go SLi next year ?
thoughts !
Yea the use of 970 is very specific- a single card for a single display of resolution of no higher than 1920 res.ignore the 970, that 3.5gb of vram is even more of a limitation in multi card setups. 390 crossfire is the better multi card setup at that price, ti for the single card.
A 980 Ti is roughly on par with 970 SLI but uses less electricity, Pumps out less heat and you don't have to worry about SLI issues.
A good video overview showing the performance difference between 970 SLI, A 980 Ti and Titan X, The 980 Ti comes out on top most of the time in games -
Dont get a Fury series card unless all you do is play Assassins creed syndicate
For reasons that have not been established yet they are not capable of handling real games lke TES:Skyrim.
Not sure if this applies to the 300 series cards which are on paper quite good.
980Ti seems decent but I cant get over how they put the HDMI in between the display ports instead of at either end and the deep black glossy PCB which looks odd, also why only 1 DVI port and then leave lots of space where the other one could go ?
+1 for the 980ti. Even if you go to 4k at some point it'll still run games nicely.
