Innovate LC-1 Wideband sensor

Anybody running one? I've had mine installed in the beetle and it had always worked flawlessly. The car was laid up for a little while though and now I've come to fire it all up again I cannot get the gauge to do anything other than continuously flash.

I've checked over all of the wiring and its all good. I tried to do a free air calibration but the flashing just doesnt change...

Does that mean the sensor is dead?

What does log works say if you try and see the readout through the software
 
I've never had it connected... Never logged lambda I just get out and fiddle with the carbs until I'm happy :)

Not a bad shout though actually, I haven't got a laptop though... How long is the cable :lol:

The LC-1 might be different to my LC-2 but you connect with the serial port on the controller itself.
 
I had this with mine. I had to remove the sensor from the exhaust and recalibrate it from fresh air.

Hope you manage to sort it.
 
As above, I'd take it out, clean it up and re-calibrate :)

My Skyline had a similar issue a few times and the above always sorted it.
 
I have read that the Innovate widebands tend to be on the temperamental side, a few folk on the mx5nutz site advocate the AEM equivalent products as lasting better and having a sensor that is more easily/cheaply replaced if necessary!

The innovate and the AEM both use Bosch sensors AFAIK. The AEM UEGO and innovate LC-2 use the LSU 4.9 I think the lc-1 uses the earlier LSU 4.2 sensor
 
I am an avid Innovate user, and have quite a few of their products in Stagea RS - but I must say, they are quite easy to electrically damage.

I jump started one of my cars once, and it must have spiked my MTX-L - because it did the same thing, despite all efforts. In the end I warranty returned it, and they were happy to replace :)
 
Well I have had it out of the exhaust, cleaned it up and tried a free air calibration. Still just a continuous flash...

Looks like a new sensor will be £60 odd :/ I haven't found the cable to plug it into a laptop yet...

Anybody got any tips on fault finding the sensor I have? Ie where should I have 12v and what should the resistance of the sensor be etc...
 
Innovate stuff was always a bit flaky IME. I swapped mine for an AEM UEGO and never looked back :)
 
That doesn't really help... This has been good for a number of years, seems I killed the sensor when jump starting maybe...

I've found the LSU 4.2 part number is 0258 006 065 which is a standard vectra/signum part according to GSF. None in stock though... Googled a bit morenand found what is apparently a suitable replacement but it only has 4 wires... I believe this has 5.
 
Seems there are a few different part numbers for essentially the same thing... often just the length of cable is different... An identical replacement would be a Bosch 17014 P/N 0258 007 057... $49 in the US... £88 here :( VW P/N 021-906-262-B they want £120 odd :/

GSF can get one for around £50... I'd like to try and pinpoint it as the sensor that has failed though really... I'll be ****ed if its the controller!

What brand was the adapter, I'd only try it with something with an FTDI chip in it.
 
If you can set the kit up to read 4.9 sensors, get one.
Much better response and they are the common mass (massively so) produced sensor and is a lot cheaper.
and on top of that it'll last longer than a 4.2 as well.
I used to use one in the MoTec LM1 (much better lambda meter by the way ;) ) a "touch" more expensive though. :D

Looks like the 4.2 would work with firmware... That could be more hassle than it's worth with me not being able to use logworks at the minute though...

Does anybody know more about the AEM widebands? I take it the can be used a s a stand alone gauge but also have a feedback into megasquirt? Basically can they be used in exactly the same way as the Innovate?

Also, would the AEM be better than the LC-2?
