Hello,

First things first, most of you know me by my forum username 'Robi', but as a couple of people have me on ignore from years back - I created this account so it can be viewed by everyone who plays Destiny. Hopefully this doesn't cause the mods too much trouble.

Right, onto brass tax. As myself and a bunch of others on the forum play PvP quite a lot and even to an extent, *cough* competitively *cough*, I think it would be a good idea to organise a 3v3 Skirmish tournament.

For anyone that doesn't know, you can match up pre-organised fireteams fairly easily, although it can take a few attempts for matchmaking to get it right. Basically, both teams select the game type at the same time, check the roster to see who you get matched against, and then back out/re-attempt if the players are not right.

In order to ensure the playing field is fair, the proposed sweaty rule set below should mitigate against any issues with people having better gear etc:

- No exotic weapons;
- No use of heavy weapons;
- No supers;
- No use of final round or shot package perks on weapons.

If this picks up a decent bit of traction, I'm going to stream on Twitch and hopefully liaise with OcUK to potentially organise a prize for the top team.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

This should separate the players who mouth off on the forums, but can't seem to replicate their so called form in the crucible

Interested players/team:

1. Water Pistol DPS: Moon-EU- / TL_Venom / TBC
2. Glowhoo: TehMoe / Corey / Drunzer
3. Unnamed: mid_gen / OweO / Greboth

Sweaty indeed. Probably not enough people on xbone that would be game but if there are I'd join in (although I'm not sure I have a setup that would work within those parameters at this point!)

Sounds good :) How do you want the teams to be formed? At least 1 OcUK player per team or all OcUK players etc.

Also, I don't see any Bluetooth requirements, you might want to make sure everyone is on the same wavelength / distance from console etc ;)

Why no heavy or super use?

You're just taking away mechanics from the game that would otherwise require you to think on your feet and react accordinly to changing situations. This makes things less boring and requires more brian power (rather than just charging around everywhere like a headless chicken)

If you get owned by heavy or supers repeatedly in PvP, it's your own fault

I can understand having no exotics or certain weapon perks, as that removes potential advatages in game based purely on loot drop luck/success

Supers and prox rockets just make things into a bit of a lottery, especially in 3v3 modes. Would be quite nice playing with just regular weapons and movement.

Agreed. And you can't guarantee a panic fist won't appear so you'd have to penalise it used in error. Doesn't sound good to me.

Heavies are a part of the game, although I think the competitive game type should be elimination so that's only 1 round of it.

There are no longer any perks outside of exotics that give a significant advantage, both the ones mentioned are already gone so it's a bit of an odd requirement. No exotics I can agree to. That is influenced by RNG.

Is this to use set teams? What sort of fairness are we aiming for between teams or is someone friends with kjhovey?

Pretty much every other 3v3 competitive tournament I've seen has followed this no super/heavy rule. Some also have no exotics or at least specify certain exotics that cannot be used.

Anyway, I'd be happy to participate. Ideally there'd be a minimum of 2 OcUKers per team though.

Xbone or PS4?

PS4.

With regards to supers, not all classes are balanced at the moment, so it wouldn't be fair for say 3 Stormtrance Warlocks to come up against 3 Sunbreaker Titans. Plus, this follows the general sweaty rule set.

I understand the nature of controlling power weapons i.e. heavy, as I come from a competitive H2/H3 background. Destiny takes a different approach to traditional power weapons though, as you pick up ammo and not the weapon itself. This can cause two problems: if one team manages to secure both ammo spawns, it can completely kill the game. Imagine 3 players with both ammo spawns, all with BTRD + additional machine gun ammo? Game over.

All of the above is about removing the random factors and ensuring the tournament is purely about aim, game sense, map awareness and communication.

Agreed - 2 OcUK's per team.

Yeah.. that's me out too :(

I guess there's no reason why there couldn't be one on each platform, but I wonder how many teams we'd actually be able to create..?

on xbox one why not use halo 5 instead, destiny really not designed for this, always give advantage to the host, weapons not balanced.

If you're interested, please can you put your name or team down here and I'll add it to the original post.

Obviously this is before a date, time, structure (per sae) and prizes are determined.

Yeah I would be up for that.

Not quite sure if we are at the MrFruit / RabbyV/ BlueWestlo level mind... :p

:)

No Exotics means I can't use my beloved Icebreaker though..... *cries*.

On a side note we should actually have another crack at trials..

Robi, dupe accounts are not allowed and is usually a bannable offence. I've sorted your thread to be in your proper username.
