Yes this is another moan about some companies/retailers who advertise next day delivery and before 12am delivery /before 9 am delivery.

When really it's complete bs..There's not a bat in hell's chance it will arrive for when you paid for.

The customer pays For item to be delivered before 12 if you can't do it then wtf don't try and con them saying you can.

So I've ordered a rather large and expensive item (TV) from a competitor (begins with e) and paid extra for before 12 noon delivery. I didn't need to buy it from these guys....there are 4 other shops which stock it.

So if this item turns up after 12 I will be refusing it and they can just take it back and I will order from somewhere else. (doubt it will even arrive today as it is still at the hub)

More customers need to do this so companies learn not to keep doing this bs. Maybe I just have bad luck when it comes to couriers.....Can none of you ***** actually do your job? How hard is it?

Notably only 2 companies I've ordered from keep their word when it comes to delivering on time...one is ocuk. you guys should stock tvs yeah?

Don't you get a refund on the late delivery?

Will find out in about 15 minutes. But that's not the point. I paid extra for them to deliver it by 12. If they can't do that then why are they advertising they can. Clear bait n switch to me. I'll just order it from another company and roll the dice on delivery again.....

I understand, yeah it does seem like they're just trying to get your custom with the offer of speedy delivery. I guess you just have to avoid them for that sort of thing.

I was once told my a companies C:S "It's next day from when we desptach it, not next day from when we acknowledge the order"

So when I asked why it took them 3 days to despatch it they claimed normal working proceedure and it was indeed delivered on day 5.

Never ordered from them since.

It could be the couriers fault and not the retailer. So you could throw your toys out of the pram and buy from another retailer and the same thing could easily happen again.

The only thing you would have succeeded at doing is delaying the time it takes you to get your TV, which is kinda besides the point of ordering fast delivery.

Just had exactly the same from a small company.

Item listed as in stock
"Orders received before 2.30pm will be dispatched the same day" - Check, ordered Monday lunchtime.
"Delivery(Express UK Delivery ( 1 - 2 working days )" - Paid extra for this option.

Item arrives Friday. Luckily it was paid through paypal so seeing how easy people on here get screwed over by them I'll put in a partial refund for the delivery.

A lot of courier companies are useless. Retailers are often, like us, at their mercy when it comes to shoddy delivery service.

Haha yeah I've had that a few times. Plastered all over their site is next day delivery when it doesn't come next day and you complain they say the it's next day from when we dispatch it and this is clearly stated in the T&C's type bull.

If the item is at the hub then the retailer has done their job, it's now in the couriers hands.

I will as it doesn't cost me anything but I'm sure costs these companies money. It's the only way they learn... Someone has to take a stand :p

I don't think you know what a bait and switch is. The idea is that if it doesn't arrive at the time or should, they compensate you. You also seem to be under the impression that the seller delivers it directly and doesn't have to rely on a third party to get out to you.

I hear you can get this service called instant delivery. Where you go into a retail store and buy it. Bad news is you've then got to get it home all on your own. And its usually a higher price.

But surely 'you're just cutting your nose off to spite your face' in this instance. Just claim the next day postage charges back from the company and be done with it.

do you not think it's more likely the courier rather than the selling company at fault here?

Not really. My contract is with the company I bought the TV from not the courier. Not my fault they can't choose a more reliable courier delivery company.

Edit cancelled it as e***** said their courier now can't deliver until Monday. Courier is Parcelforce.

If you are so desperate for the item, why can't you just drive to the hub and collect it?

Legally yes your contract is with the seller and anything that goes on before the item arrives with you is on them but using common sense you can see this is not the retailers fault, considering pretty much all the big online sellers use the same couriers it could have just as easily happened never mind where you ordered it from.
It's not like you paid for next day and they've sat there with their thumb up their bum rather than packing and shipping your item.
