GLOFO announces next-gen AMD product 14nm FinFET success

So AMD are confirmed as 14nm, is nvidia going to be on 16nm?

One man's 16 is anothers 14.

^^^ taht is the image I was lloking for.
yep, Samsung 14nm is basically TSMC 16mm FF+. only Intel have something that is clearly 1 node smaller than 20/22nm.

This isn't true at all. The vast majority of multiplatforms run just as good on relatively equal equipment as consoles. Sometimes even better with lesser hardware.

I just don't mean in terms of fps mate..I'm talking about the improvement in visuals also. With the incredible gpu power we have on pc at the top end, pc visuals whilst are obviously better than the same game on console, should be absolutely smashing console visuals.

PC is also held back by lesser PCs, API, and the fact that it's incredibly hard to make a modern game in a short enough time frame for it to be relevant upon release.

Thankfully the profit motive will ensure this will change sooner rather than later.

Yea, if we wanted games that ran at 30fps at 1080p with $700 GPU's.

Any developer who did that sort of thing nowadays would be smashed to bits by violent criticism. We're currently in a somewhat awkward transition to higher resolutions than 1080p, with 1440p being the next logical and reasonable step, but many people are buying 4k displays anyways, which requires a ludicrous amount of processing power. Basically, do you want better graphics or do you want to run higher resolutions at high framerates? You cant have them both right now. It's only been two years since the consoles came out and we already have GPU's that are fairly comfortable at running multiplats at 1440p/60fps. That's already a pretty great situation compared to last gen. Sadly, I think as GPU's progress over the next few years, most effort will go into trying to skip over 1440p and get these games running at 4k. And the next consoles will sacrifice graphical improvements to push 4k as well, because nobody is selling 1440p TV's.

Not a terrible thing, as I think 4k is great, but you cant push resolution improvements and graphical improvements at the same rate. One or the other has to give. Especially if you want to run them at 60fps+.

Exactly. Most PC gamers do not have higher end rigs. So devs aren't going to make these ultra high end games(that are expensive and costly) that only run well for 10% of the PC community.

Two games which i'm impressed with so far are star citizen and elite dangerous! I think these have been very well developed and are nice graphical games. I can run Elite dangerous 1440p maxed out and still get constant 60FPS which is because it has been made well and optimised well on the dev side. Same for Star Citizen however Star Citizen seems more demanding but it is just if not more graphically impressive. Now i'm a fan of these sort of games so this might be why I like them so much.

But the point i'm trying to get at is these two games are kickstarter games! I wonder if something like this where games can get funding from consumers early on might actually help developers make their games and not get pressured to release games so quickly?
Now i know its open to getting abused where devs will just produce crap and run away with money but that's their reputation gone too. Good devs would always get my sponsor! As long as their showed some gratitude in game where you get nice little bonuses for sponsoring. Anyone think this is a good or bad idea? I know its going to be disliked by a lot of people but criticism is always welcome! :)
