7870 /7990

so my 7870 has died a few days ago and my friend has offered me a Powercolor HD 7990 Devil 13 6 GB at a good price and of you guys had a 7990 or own on now ?

I haven't, but I believe there are a few on here that have had or currently own one, or even two. I considered getting one as I like dual gpu cards, but the right deal never came along.

What cpu and psu are you running?

Built a system for a friend with gigabyte 7990, his psu is a corsair 750, built around x99 and a 5820k.

All fine.

New PSU is needed for something branded and bronze rated as a minimum.
Lots of patience for when your xfire profiles aren't working on new games.

Make sure your cpu is running at a decent clock speed.

My 7990 just burnt out but it's a great card, just undervolt it to about 1.13 and it is a bit loud and noisy but mine could run gta v, project cars at 4k at high/very hight at 60fps. mainly issues with drivers but got a lot better.

Check the gpu utilization in games with something like MSI Afterburner, and if need be, up the clocks a bit. Make sure you keep an eye on the temps, though if you have a half decent cooler / case cooling, you should be fine.
