Poll: Is the 'gender pay gap' a real thing?

Should a woman with the same skill/experience doing the same role/hours be paid at the same rate as

  • Yes

    Votes: 127 66.1%
  • No

    Votes: 37 19.3%
  • I'm not sure

    Votes: 21 10.9%
  • No, but only because that answer suits me and not because it's right

    Votes: 7 3.6%

  • Total voters
    192
Which isn't in the op, and after it says view results. It's totally different to what op is saying and thread title.

The question is there all the time, not just after you have voted, right above the options

127 yes?

OCUK i'm disappointed seriously. How much have any of you actually read up on this before voting yes / no?

It's this public perception that just feeds into it and keeps it alive, but I guess if it's shoved in your face 24//7 how a gender pay gap must exist you just begin to believe it as truth.

That's not what the poll was asking ahead of being closed.

The question was asked as to whether a woman with the same skills/experience as a man doing the same job at the same level should be paid the same wage.

Yes I just noticed and was like ffs...

I took it was "does a pay gap exist" and voted no.

And yes of course people should be paid the same, that's a no brainer.

why are you disappointed that 127 people feel men and women should be paid the same?

On your bike dowie. :D

Didn't say it wasn't shown. Its clear a lot missed it, as I did. Which is pretty easy to do, when a line starts with general forum blurb, you tend to skip reading the rest.. Not bothered by it, just got an hour to kill before work.

My wife was (and I'm sure will be again) an extremely successful woman but hasn't worked a day since my warrior's seed produced a sprog. That was 7 years ago. She has put her career on bricks. That plays it's part.

How dare you and your chauvinistic brothers create a culture where she is forced to become a slave to raise your male children so they too may one day oppress other women.

Seriously though, its quite obvious that people like Skidders wife made the choice to put their career on hold to look after their children. The choice is not made by a male mass which expects women to be stay at home mothers but rather by the individual.

Studies have shown this is not true. Even the youngest children (those with the least socialising) choose toys that fit traditional sex roles. It's not society making girls become mothers, home-makers and so forth, but women.

Source to studies please.

Well I don't think it's very masculine for a man to play the part of primary caregiver whilst the women acts as the provider.

Just as well not many people care what you think, I certainly don't subscribe to your ideals of masculinity.
