Hi I am trying to decide which corsair water cooler I should go for. I am planning to oc a 5820k to 4.2-4.4 and not sure if I will need the h80i or the h100i gtx could someone help please. my case is the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv micro. thank you

Both coolers that you mentioned are viable for that build, just a matter of preference between a 120 rad vs a 240 rad. But since you are planning to OC your CPU, you'll probably better off getting the H100i GTX due to its bigger rad spec which would typically translate to better heat dissipation.

I have the H80i GT, and my 5820 @ 4.2 hits between 45 -50oc in game.

I also asked on these forums if going to the H100i GTX, would improve on the above, but didn't really get a definitive answer.

I think it would improve temps slightly, but by how much is anyone's guess......2-3 degree's?

HI thanks for you replys. just wondering how reliable is the corsair coolers. just for interest is there any better one for the same price or is corsair the main option thanks.

unless you go for ek predator or full wc build, Corsairs are pretty good.
I'd recommend looking for a 240/280mm with the thickest radiator.
H110i GT should do fine.

You may also want to consider the OCUK tech labs AIO cooler:

It's cheaper than the Corsair and made by the same company (Asetek), but won't look as fancy or have the impressive lighting or software that the Corsair units have. The included fans are pretty good at cooling without too much noise, but you could always use the money you save to buy premium fans if you wanted. I have this cooler and I can vouch for its quality.

There's also the Raijintek AIOs which you can colour the liquid on:

Cheaper than Corsair again, and although there are horror stories of them leaking the return rate is comparable to other AIOs according to OCUK, but I've not personally tried this cooler.

Finally it's worth mentioning that these alternatives come in 120mm size just like the H80i, if you are considering something other than Corsair.

Between those 2, you're guesstimate is within range, the gain is very minimal. However, comparing an AIO 120/240 rad spec to a 280 rad spec (e.g. H110i GT/H110i GTX) is a different story. The difference in temp is significant, especially when system is under heavy load.

Hi thanks for the advice. I am still looking for a cooler could someone tell me if the h110i gt would fit or is that too big for the case. other question what difference is there between the gt and the gtx thank you.

If you do go down the Corsair CLC route be prepared for a lot of noise before you get good performance out of them. If you don't mind a hair dryer every time your system is under load or you game with your system up loud to drown the noise out then they can give good performance.

My advise for those who in your shoes is to either get D15 etc., a 'proper' AIO like the Swiftech H22(4)0-x (which are expandable) or a full custom loop.
