Vehicle Tax Rate Table - What are you?

Was having a look at the tables, as I believed there was a £900+ bracket yet can't find anything showing this on gov website.

My RX8 because it was registered March 2006 falls into the higher tax back than one that was registered 12 days before mine (I'd only have to pay £290) hahaha... so I pay £505 in K band. Yet my 4 litre 2003 2.5 ton Jeep is half this lol... and my 2.3 V6 Supercharged Xedos 9 is £230 quid lol.

So, am I imagining this £900+ tax bracket? I think I am...

The £900 is a first year rate.

You are probably thinking of the vehicle tax on new cars introduced in April 2010.

There is an 'M' bracket which is £1,100

After the first year it drops down to the rates you linked to.

If it had been a band L, I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place though. Still, its a hefty jump from a band G (previous car) to a band K!

Seems I've done exactly the same jump as you dhill! Not sure I'd have let an extra £200 a year put me off a band L car, though
