After a lot of research the past week, I will be upgrading to the i5 4690k, and now need to choose a motherboard for it.

I wan't to get a decent overclock to make the most of it, and will only be used with a single R9 390. So don't need extra PCI-E at x8 or SLI features or anything. Just a board that will allow me to do a nice overclock with.

Is there a reason not to get the Gigabyte Z97-D3H currently on sale at £71.99?

What would be your suggestion for just a no frills, just well made board that allows for good overclocking potential?

Don't want to 'cheap out' on the motherboard, but don't want to spend what I don't need to. Budget is fairly tight, although can stretch a bit seeing as it'll be worth it in the long run.

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

The D3H will be fine. With haswell/devils canyon, it comes down more to the ability of the cpu than the motherboard when overclocking. Im a fan of asus boards myself, but gigabyte have a very highly commended warranty and support service. Something that is always worth considering.
