So I finally decided it was time to get an upgrade from my 580 that I've had since release.

I've got a 970 arriving tomorrow and I'm wondering what I should do about drivers. As it's all Nvidia based do I need to unintall and reinstall, or can I just swap the cards out and the software will do the rest?

Thanks all!

lol this.

You can get something like Driver Sweeper to uninstall the previous drivers if you prefer but generally the Nvidia software should work without the need for it.

Literally no point using any kind of driver sweeper in this instance. Both the 580 and the 970 use exactly the same driver and software. As others have said, just turn off, swap, turn back on. Job done.

Cheers guys, was hoping it would be just a simple swap job!

Now just to wait for it to be delivered! Should be a nice upgrade from the 580.

That's interesting, how so? Like malware or a actually something serious?

Not malware no. At least not for the better known apps! :p

Modern driver install packages do a good job of updating/cleaning themselves up these days. Just no point using a driver cleaner in normal circumstances. If it's already properly broken and cannot get any worse then they are worth a shot though.
