Cat owners

So, the little buggar started so well with the litter tray, and now he feels the need to pee and poo right on the carpet. 2 weeks of perfect usage, now the last few days it's been on the carpet. We've added a 2nd little tray to where he's had his deliberate accidents, but still has gone on the carpet right next to the tray a couple of times.

What to do, other than ask him to move out?

(Carpet cleaner has been ordered...)

Two things that solved this for my sister.

Firstly, buy a feliway for the house http://www.monsterpetsupplies.co.uk...gle-shopping&gclid=CIi2voP5zcgCFYydGwodfPkMyQ

Secondly, put the bog tray in a quiet part of the house. i.e. under a table or desk in a lightly used room

Other options:

Aas suggested, get a covered and doored cat lit tray. http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/p...rays/cat-class-printed-hooded-cat-litter-tray

You could also see if catnip works on your cat and if so, put a small amount in the tray. Hopefully the cat won't go crazy and rol in it....but it should help make it appealing to them.

You could also try laying down a sheet of aluminum foil where the cat pees for 24 hours as i've heard they don't like the feeling of it on their clws / paws, but i'm not so convinced of that one.

Try each thing for a week, not all at once. Cats are all about continuity.

How often have you emptied the main litter tray and properly cleaned it? Cats like their litter tray to be clean, particularly if they will be using it regularly. The plastic needs cleaning and possibly disinfecting as the score marks created by claws as they dig through the litter captures the smell of the urine which can put cats off.

Our one cat pees up the cupboards/walls/sofas (pretty much anything) if the litter tray isn't pristine!

Simply replacing the litter is not enough.

also make sure you clean whatever they crapped / ****ed on with a proper enzyme cleaner otherwise they'll associate the smell in the area and re-use it

Anyone got any good cat toys for two 10 week old kittens that work at arms length. Preferably durable if expensive or cheap if I have to replace it regularly.

So far they like the catnip mice from Tesco, cat bell balls are fun if I'm throwing them around, and the tunnel is okay also from Tesco. Toilet roll tubes see more action than the kong pillow from petsathome (at least my feet are slightly safer now).

Trying to wear down the little bully girl to be more friendly and less attack anything that moves with claws (she's fine when all pooped out and separated away from her brother, but suffers from jealously).

I have a moogy on a pole toy, but whilst one is interested on what at the end of the string, she's more interested in attacking the pole.

Following on from my thread about Millie's appalling eating habits where she takes finicky, with my help I might add, to the extreme. I decided after much research and a chat to my vet to take what I thought would be drastic action. Not only for her but more importantly for me as she knows that she can wind me round her paw, so to speak.
Anyway the new regime is she gets fed twice a day with a pouched food I know she eats or has done in the past. She has around an hour to eat then any remains are removed.
Day one: She did not eat any breakfast and proceeded to sulk and avoid me the whole day. In the evening she again turned her nose up until she thought no one was looking and then ate the lot. She is still sulking with me.
Day two: She did not eat her breakfast when put down to her but when I went for a shower she decided to have a nibble but stopped as soon as I came into the room gave a meow which in the past would mean I would get her something else. This time I ignored her abut when I arrived back from a Dr's appointment there was a clean bowl.
She is still sulking but less so as she is in her cupboard spot beside me at the moment.
We are up to day five and although she does not immediately eat the food put down to her I think she has finally realised that I am not going to pander to her foodie whims.

Still a bit stand offish but we are getting there.

Can you not just leave her something dry to nibble on, as it sounds like she is losing her appetite when you are around? Maybe having something you can leave out for longer periods will encourage her to eat more often even with you around?

Laser pen (powered by two aaa's), couple of quid from EBay. Hours of fun.

I'm sure I have one away in a box from when they were all the rave? It's a red laser output so hoping its class 1 or something (should I just get a lower power green one?).
I read that whilst it's good for burning energy, it's not very fulfilling for them because they can't actually catch the light? I should add, their play fighting seems to get rather heated with what seems like serious spitting sometimes.

My worry is that things like that are pretty much just another washing machine: scary, dull, interesting, dull, interesting, scary, dull, dull, washing what?

Unless you have one or something similar that you can definitely say that beyond the first few minutes of what the heck is that and should I be scared of it moments extend into this is cool I want to run my paws off. :p

We have had a. Catit toy laid out for 11 months now. They still go back to it and knock the ball around .

Plus you can extend it and change it over time.

I bought one ages ago when I just had two cats, they played with it for a bit, then never bothered with it. When I got my 3rd cat as a kitten, I got it out again and he loved it. Plays with it daily, he's also got the other two interested in it, and so I wonder if it's because he was introduced to it as a kitten. The other two see him playing with it, and are now like "Oooh what's that?" and then in turn play with it themselves.

I bought the Catit ball & track thing too. Even got the ball that lights up when batted.

Sadly, it was completely ignored, even when I demonstrated it for minutes on end :p

However, I leave it down (in my bedroom), and maybe once every 6 months I get woken by the noise of the ball being batted, for about 5 seconds, and that's it. Bella gets bored very easy tho, and in truth I've not had much luck getting her to play with anything :/

Cool, well they both have that mentality, 'Oi what are you doing that's soooo interesting?' followed by 'Make it stop!'.

Hoping they actually play with it whilst I'm at work rather than destroy carpet and anything wrapped in plastic bags (my remotes are no longer water proof, thanks).
