Motherboard Failure?

Hi all,

I purchased a new system back in May (self built) and everything was working fine until it suddenly wouldn't switch on. Having checked all the cables etc I noticed that when I flick the switch on the PSU I get a single flash from the light on the motherboard power button and then nothing. No PSU fans, no lights on the RAM sticks, it's completely dead.

I pulled the system apart this weekend and was able to jump the PSU so that seems to be working fine but whenever I connect it to the motherboard, even with minimal components nothing happens (the PSU fans don't even start). I'm therefore guessing that the motherboard may have failed but, not being an expert in these things, that is just a guess.

The board is a Gigabyte X99M Gaming 5.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd be inclined to agree it sounds like the motherboard, if it's the CPU the fans will normally still spin up. If you've already tried with minimal components, I'm sorry to say it's likely RMA time.

Thanks for the quick reply. Feared that might be the case. Do I arrange an RMA through the main site or can I do it through the customer services section of this forum?

Thanks again.

Although no expert on this I believe you can use either the retailer or the manufacturer in the first 12 months. Given Gigabyte's good reputation for RMA's it may be best to raise an RMA directly with them.

Hi

I got one of these motherboards yesterday and after building the PC it all worked like a dream however I left the PC on whilst out this afternoon, it was only downloading stuff and on my return its completely dead.

Did you get anywhere with OC? I have just put a request in and hope to do a RMA also.

Thanks Aaron
