xD this has made my day.

My mum is buying a new car, she said she has been offered £1500 px for her 2009 1.2 Corsa active, she bought the car just over two years ago and it cost her £5000 and it had 2040 miles on the clock, yup 2040..

It now has around 23,000 miles on it and she has asked if i want to buy it for £1500.

I ovcourse said yes, even i know this is actually a good deal. Ive been thinking i wont buy a car yet as im saving around £800 per month for a mortgage and dont want to waste any money on a car thatll cause me no end of isues, but her car is immaculate, was fully serviced up until when she got it, when she bought it, it had the original tyres from new, the last owner was an old man and he said no one had even sat in the back of the car in the 3 years he had it.

So yeah, quite chuffed with this, much better deal than any other car ive ever had.

But if you are saving and have been able to do without a car don't buy it just because it's a good deal.

Why don't you sell it for her and split the profit?

Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's good. It's relatively cheap for what it is but it's still a 6 year old low spec corsa. I'd rather have the £1500 - that's 428 pints in my book

Could get 500 pints in some of the places round here oop North!

you've basically ripped your mum off ;)

I offered her 2k, she said just pay the £1500 she owes on her finance, shes not bothered, she must have more money than sense, im going to pay her car tax on her new car too.

Her reasoning was that she would rather me have it for this price as it will help me through winter as usually i cycle to work and back and have done for around 18 months but now i live further away from work and a motor would come in useful.

Im having this because when the weather gets bad its going to be needed, but when the weather gets good again itll be sat saving its mileage :) Ill want a car eventually and this is a simple cheap reliable motor thats cheap on insurance and petrol, cant really go wrong for that price.

Ive been gaining no claims on my mrs insurance for years too so that makes this even cheaper.

I'd say there's no reason to "save mileage" on a corsa :) rag it as much as you can and bin it!

plus cycling in winter is not that bad

No reason to "save mileage" as it won't be worth dramatically more at resale time - may as well use the 40k of "free mileage" (i.e. because of less than average miles for age) - maybe keeping the mileage down on your mrs' car for example.

Classic OCUK :D The guy has bought a mint condition 2009 car for £1500 and people still try to pick holes in it.

Any other car (apart from nasty French sheds obviously) and I would've said you've got a good deal. However IMO Corsas are some of the blandest, most underpowered cars around so I think mum wins here. Other than that enjoy your new ride. :D
