Hey all

Shopping for a new 1151 board and usually I just buy the best, past few pc's have been asus rog boards.

I'm just checking if there's a better choice for my next pc or just to opt for a rog maximus extreme?

Cheers!

Not really for the majority of users. I had an ROG maximus 6 formula with a 4790k at 4.7ghz. Would have got the same cpu overclock out of a cheaper board. The ROG series are primarily aimed at benchers looking to tweak a myriad of system perameters.

To be honest these days I don't even overclock, I just like the more premium look of it, I want rock solid reliability at stock speeds, rather put the savings into a GPU

The ROG boards, and indeed other vendors higher end models do look nice. But you can still get a good solid/stable board without having to spend as much.

You loose the ability to use more than two cards in sli/xfire as the hero is limited to dual card only. Im not that familiair with Zi70 boards tbh, but the hero in Z87/97 was a very very popular choice.
