Help choosing between these 2 upgrade routes...

Hey guys

I have 2 routes of upgrade for my new build, im wondering if people can help me out to narrow it down...

Theres this 1151 build:

a final question is, i currently have 32gb ram, but am going for 16gb here to save some money, should i just get 32gb again? or is it pointless

An idea of what the rig will be used for would be good if you want better advice. Above spec is simply better bang for buck based on a £1,100 budget.
 
 
Itll be for gaming and for music production which is ram and cpu heavy.

Im very brand loyal with PC parts and have only ever owned ASUS mobos and GPU's

are these other brands actually good enough? I dont want to cut corners for a GPU and have something fail on me
 
Gigabyte make fantastic boards, and if something should go wrong they have an excellent uk based support service. Whilst i am a big fan of asus boards, ive read a lot of stuff that states their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

The build ExRayTed has put together looks like a very good setup. Particularly as it includes the gtx 980ti, extremely good cards. If you are prepared to wait a bit, skylake cpu prices may fall a bit. Price has been high since release due to short supply.

ok thanks, is there any way i can get a more well known GPU brand card? or does that not matter either? Im kind of paranoid about stepping outside the big names

are we saying 1151 over 2011 then? as the prices are the same...whats the reason?

also no one addressed my ram question
 
If I was getting a new machine, I'd get one that can take those 2500MB/s M.2 NVME SSDs.

Super overkill, but you'd just have to do it :D
 
Same as Danny75's but with an EVGA 980ti they have great customer service and will soon have a uk based rma service. 32GB Ram as it will help with the music production side of things.

I take it these are no thrills boards that just seat the processor and ram? are they good enough to be bullet proof? im just dubious about cheaper primary components, what do i loose vs higher end boards.

Also can no one say for sure 2011 vs 1151?

The PC is dead hence the upgrade! otherwise id 100% agree with you, mobo fried and i cant find another 2011 mobo to replace it
