As the title, what would you pick? I am thinking of having a change, been iOS for many years, currently have an iPhone 6. Is android very stable and secure? Can you get viruses on android?

Another G4 vote here - brilliant phone imo!

In answer to your other questions, yes it's very stable - secure really depends on what you download/install - similar to a PC - avoid dodgy files and websites and it's fine imo! (yes you can get viruses on Android!)

Tough one, I like the G4 a lot but I just much prefer stock android so I went back to a Nexus device.

There are generally no issues with viruses as long as you keep it updated, but some apps on the Play store can run in the background and annoy/waste battery. They can't do anything that means you can't remove them, it's not like malware on windows.

I would probably sway you towards a 5X over the G4 - but I don't think either is a better phone it's just preference.

Specs comparison here

The LG is slightly bigger and heavier but has more RAM, "better" camera (ie. more pixels front and back) a better screen (higher pixel density), micro SD card expansion, bigger battery and is cheaper to boot!

About the only thing going for the Nexus 5X imo is the bang up to date Android OS!

The 5X is just a bit too pricey for what you get. The G4 represents better value.

If you want a top vanilla android device, go for the Nexus 6P.

Exactly what I was going to say!

But yeah, the G4 is a better phone and is better value than the 5X, but if you would consider the 6P then I would get that over both that you mentioned.

I'm a big fan of stock android but it's probably the only advantage the 5X has over the G4 in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies and info, the 6p is just to big of a phone for me, I only have fairly small hands! It's 6s+ isn't it? How is the s6? I would live wireless charging.

The 6p is 6 plus size yes

The G4 also supports wireless charging,

The G4 is also getting / got Marshmaollow in Poland so is one of the first companies to get it after the nexus range

Try out the 6P from the Google Play Store. You a 14 days to try it out with a no fuss return and refund. You have nothing to lose.

IMHO, Android in it's stock form is the only way to go.

I went from a G4 to a 6P and there isn't much in the size. I'd try and get a hands on all 3 and see. G4 is the best value, the camera is about the same as is the battery life.

Love my 5x.

I thought fingerprint unlock would be a pointless fad, best thing ever!

It's in a natural place that always unlocks when I pick it up

I'd have the 5X for the front-facing speaker alone. Stock Android and regular updates for a couple of years is a plus.

It's slightly worse value than the G4, but it's got the same CPU but at a lower (not discernible) resolution and doesn't need the extra RAM because of stock Android (I doubt any half-decent apps are going to push the RAM limits any time soon). The cameras are pretty much level-pegging - they're both excellent.

Is the 5X £75-100 better? No. Is it worth the extra... that depends on how you'd use your phone. The 6P isn't £150 better than the G4 in pure value but the little bits add up and it's probably a worthwhile step for most looking at the demand of the phone, and the 5X isn't any different than the 6P (other than no stereo speakers) if you don't look at the spec sheet.

Really I'd boil it down to to speaker position, stock android and the excellent fingerprint recognition vs expandable storage, slightly larger screen and value. Pick which one is most important and go from there. You can't really go wrong either way though. :)

5X because although the G4 wins on specs, the software is passable at best and that's what you'll be using on a day to day basis.

Fairly happy with my 5X, on paper it doesnt look a great phone but in useage its quite tidy.

Supposedly runs even better if you root it and turn off the forced encryption.

G4 for me every time. Just check out a load of YouTube comaring vids and it always strikes blows with anything out there.

As for the software its fine. I came from a nexus device and I enjoy the skin LG has put on. Couple in great camera, battery life, memory expansion, 3gb RAM, and price. Also it's awesome having a removeable battery again.

S6 is a good phone but pretty naff battery life apparently.

I would prefer it on the front as I unlock my phone from my desk usually, although with trusted places I could presumably swipe to unlock?
