Hi Guys,

I built my 1st pc of here a few years back and want to upgrade it some, i don't need a massive increase in performance etc, but I want to be able to play games like Fallout 4 without any issues. I've noticed a few times that my pc seems to go slow every so often when playing certain games.

This is what i bought

Can you suggest upgrades compatible with this build? I was going to get some extra Ram etc but not sure how much of it does Windows 7 actually use for things like games.

Many Thanks
Chris

Got a budget?

SSD and a new GPU should set you up for a few more years :)

Budget - Would prefer not to rob a bank but know you get what you pay for.

SSD - Are these not limited to something like 120gb? How would this help me with games etc?

GPU - Any ideas on which ones perform well but not massively expensive?

Cheers for your reply.

Cant suggest specific parts with a vague budget, for gaming get the best GPU you can afford, a SSD makes everything load faster basically, put your OS on it and any games/programs you use a lot, keep data on a HDD. At some point you`ll be wanting another 8gb of RAM also.

Within your budget you can get a GTX960 or R9 380, but the performance difference over your 7870 may not justify the cost. If you can stretch to £250 then there is a sizeable upgrade with the GTX970 or R9 390.

Some examples, yes they will fit your board.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £850.98
(includes shipping: £11.10)
